NCLEX in CA + NY

Published

hi guys!

its been a puzzlin' week for me

i just checked out the ca bon webiste

regarding application for nclex..

a friend of mine told me that its gonna

take a while for them to give us the a.t.t.

but some would say ca bon is the fastest

amongst all the state.. which is better among

the two ny or ca bon regarding a.t.t.?

because i believe in ny i still have to undergo

cvs for ny state...

is there any state in us that it would only take them

3-5 mos for att? and also i sat-in for cgfns/nclex

review in labagnoy review center for a month but i

quit for some personal reasons, they were talling us

that study guide such as saunder's / kaplan

is not enough speacially if we dont have a hospital

setting backround.. is that true?

i really need guidance from this website regarding

att and review materials thanks!!!! ;)

Filipino RNs nowadays apply for either Vermont or New Mexico and many of them are posting that it only takes about 2-3 mos. because they don't require any service from CGFNS to be made eligible. They then endorse to another state that doesn't also require any service from CGFNS such as CA.

There will also be instances that it is better to just apply directly to the State BON you would like to be licensed to, esp. for those State BONs that require CGFNS' CES such as NJ, FL, IL to name a few.

If you'll do a search here, you'll come upon threads and posts on how to apply to those 2 BON.

NM would still require something from cgfns, you would still need to get the credentials evaluation service but you would no longer have to take the certification program/exam.

NM hasn't required the CES for some time now. If you take time to read the new threads here about applying to NM none of the posters that recently applied to NM did the CES from CGFNS. The transcripts are directly sent by your school to the NM Board of Nursing. You can refer to NM BON website.

This is just to clarify things so that new posters who have plans to apply to NM won't get confused. Thanks.

Here's the link for the requirements for foreign nurses. http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/NonUSgrads.pdf

This is the link for NM's website as well: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/

i'm not really sure which is fastest with regards to the ATT but i can share to you 2 books which really helped me in my nclex preparations.they are saunders Q & A and NSNA.they are the best because they explain why the choices are correct or wrong.i spent several months just doing Q & A because i felt like i need to learn their approach(i'm foreign trained also).when i came to the testing center,i felt like i never reviewed anything and i am not fully prepared.i could not imagine how we can review nursing for a few months if we took it 2-4 yrs.anyway,i somehow adjusted with the strategy thru Q & A and passed it.
