NCLEX CA Application, help!

Published

hi everyone, i'm a newbie. :p i'm an RN, recently reviewing for ielts, scheduled on march. i have a tourist visa. i am planning to apply for NCLEX in Cali. Have printed the application form already. then what? hehe,, i am totally clueless.

what about fingerprint cards? how about the payment?

what i know about the application process is by:

1. send the application forms & other required papers to the BON.

2. then wait for the ATT card.

3. After receiving the ATT, register at PearsonVue online.

4. Schedule on a preferred date & venue.

am i correct? i need further detailed instructions. i plan to take nclex in hongkong.

any help, advise would be very much appreciated, i would be very grateful.

thank you!

lawrence!

your point is good but the answer will be no from cgfns. i also hold cgfns certificate, i caled cgfns and asked the same question"can you use the documents on my file for ny cvs". the lady said,"no, ny requires that the documents be independently collected by cgfns". i asked,"will it be faster for me than those whose credentials are not on file?" she said, "it depends upon how fast your schools and the registration authority respond, your credentials on file can not be used for cvs"....

i am confident that, cgfns will charge a full fee for this, becasue they say they will be sending the requests to schools...

i wish they will charge less for visa screen certificate if teh candidate holds a cgfns certificate. it makes sense, because the major part of their work(credentials evaluation) is already done..for the cgfns certification..they don't have to repeat it. but ??????

they don't charge for illinois ces if one has cg certificate because, the state accepts cgfns certificate as well. cgfns does not send the ces for the cg certificate holders ..it just sends cgfns certificate verification which is free of cost. many states which require ces also accept cgfns certificate.

they charge for each separate application that they need to process. and for the cvs, it doesn't matter if they have done everyhting on you in the past, not one piece of that information can be used for ny. it is a ny bon requirement. when you fill out the cvs application, notice that it tells you that they will obtrain all documents that are required and cannot use anything that was sent for something else.

as for using documents for the vsc that were originally sent for the cgfns exam, there are two requirements that must be met, the documents cannot be at cgfns office for greater than 2 years, as well as that they must have recieved a completed set of transcripts from your school. remember that the ces requires the full set fo transcripts, but the cgfns exam actually only requires that the one page form be filled in by your school.

It seems that what Suzanne and Starbin are saying is that there's no other way and no short-cuts for CVS even though you already have applied for the CGFNS certification. Sorry about that. Best of luck to you then. Better get the ball rolling. :)

hi suzanne, lawrence and starbin, and all the nice people helping those lost in all these processes. You are all heaven-sent!

I also would like to post my questions...and hope you could help me too.

1) I have submitted my application to CA-BON around 2-3 wks ago, and they have sent me the confirmation card. Since NY gives the eligibility faster, is it okay if I would rather submit in NY, since CA does not issue the hard license without SSN?

2) I'm done with ielts, and I did not take the local board and cgfns. Can I start with processing the VSC?

Thank you very much! Please dont get tired of us.

You can start the VSC cert. and fill out the details of your IELTS in the application form and have the test center forward the results/certification to ICHP. DOn't forget to include your CGFNS/ICHP # when you have it forwarded.

Yes, you can, but you will be starting the process from day one, and will need to do the CVS, before you even consider the VSC. The CVS is the credentials verification that NY requires, and that is done by CGFNS,.

CGFNS can use the same documents that they obtain for both the CVS and the VSC>

To lawrence:

What's the CGFNS/ICHP#? So sorry, am really not familiar with this. How do I get the #?

To suzanne:

Guess I would have to wait for my eligibility from CA, then. I will just pray it wont take them forever.:( Am really sad, I wish I found this site earlier. Sigh....

Thanks a lot, angels! Hoping for more of your guidance.

Its the same as the CGFNS/ICHP I.D. # w/c they give when you avail any of their services.

Sorry, that I thought you have one. I forgot that you haven't avail any of their services yet.

I thought you wanted to get the CVS done too ??

If you're not doing CVS and would be applying for VSC cert. you have to instruct your school to send a seperate set of transcript to ICHP (VisaScreen).

Got mixed up in my desire to go instead the NY route, than wait for CA to process it.... That means I will be doing the VSC.

Thanks, lawrence!
