Hello 🙂
I was recently accepted to the Navy Nurse Corps and I'm making this thread in hopes to connect with other nurses who are or already have been. I just found out my first duty station will be Camp Pendleton and my ODS start date is Oct 6th, 2024! I always enjoy reading people's experiences and conversations about this topic but have not come across any recent posts.
I'm currently a stem cell/cellular therapy RN with 1.5 year experience. I'm soo excited for this upcoming adventure.

Also did any of you get a sign on bonus if so was that given all at once or disbursed in increments? Well Thursday will be my first time meeting with the recruiter and doing paperwork.
When I did paperwork with my recruiter, I signed for 100k bonus for critical care active duty for 4 year contract per my recruiter you get 25k per year on your anniversary and based on what I see online you get the first 25k on your first check. I know for med surg its 50k bonus

Okay yes this is what I heard too. Is disbursed on the anniversary date. Well I'll find out tomorrow exactly after meeting with the recruiter. I will be doing active duty and the sign on indicated 50k. Was ODS hard? Pushups?! 😕 I feel like I need to train now LOL but they told me I have time I'm just not trying to wait last minute

If you're like a critical care certified nurse I believe they can get up to $75k (don't quote me on that). You will get your bonus in a lump sum, with taxes taken out of course. Some people got theirs in ODS, some when they got to their duty station. Always keep copies of everything you sign! I suggest to get one of those accordion file organizers now and keep everything in there.
I will certainly keep everything organized thank-you!

Ahhh thank you ! Supper helpful it is the 50k for 4 yr any specialty. Although I'm NICU unsure if that's ranked differently than ICU ?
I see well your ahead of me! Its process sounds like. You did MEPS already ? Was that hard?

Ohh gosh I hate the anticipation and waiting. Curious to know how long it'll take me but by the sound of everyone's experience is lengthy. Keep me posted you have been helpful !

I was told for the reserves there is 30k sign on bonus Im not sure what they are offering active duty. I'm not an officer yet, but when I enlisted I was given 10k sign on bonus. They gave me 5k after I completed basic and A and C school and then they gave out the rest on my anniversary date of when I enlisted throughout my 6 year contract. It could be different now, I joined in 2014 so if anyone has different information please let me know.
Just make sure you don't put "Reserves" on anything It is the Reserve. Not plural. I was always active, but I knew a Colonel who would flip on people who called it "reserves". The little things matter. Enlisted (as you know. I was an E before O also) also see and hear everything we do. Good luck.
