So is it Navy Nurse OR Air Force Nurse? Please Help me decided which is better because tomorrow i will call a recruiter and get it done. Being in the military is my dream so at least its Nurse+Military :yeah:

Firstly, you would want to consider what you want out of your military experience. There is actually a nurse military forum on here that will provide you with significantly more information. Be aware that there is currently quite a wait even if you are signed, as there are so many unemployed. The Air Force seems to be the longest wait from what I am hearing. Are you an LVN, an RN or have you earned your bachelors? The only way to go in as an officer is with your bachelors degree, otherwise you will be viewed as enlisted, which is lower pay, harder physical boot camp. Etc.

You may want to spend more time thinking about this decision, waiting 18 days and being "bored" does not necessarily warrant a decision that affects your life long term. Even the 4 year enlistments require an additional 4+ years of being in the reserves. Whatever you decide, make certain that you carefully read over your contract, anything that is not in the contract means it isn't guaranteed. Good luck to you.

Are you an LPN or RN? ADN or BSN? If you're not a BSN-RN the military doesn't want you, at least not as a nurse.

I've heard good things about both the airforce and navy nursing programs. I think either one would be good.

@nicki,cnainadn thanks for the nice advice. Well I'm a BSN graduate. So salary is lower when your in the military?

All branches are pretty full right now as far as nurses are concerned; you will have to work very, very hard to get into the service as a new grad or a nurse without more than 6 months to a year of experience. Be prepared to wait about a year before you can get in, if you are selected ... they are having fewer selection boards due to the overwhelming number of applicants. Definitely contact a recruiter for more info. Good luck!!

Oh that sucks so it will be hard for me to enter? So i have to wait 1 year before i get the

4 weeks of military training?

Yes, it will be difficult. There were many experienced and qualified nurses who applied to both the Army and the Air Force recently who were not selected; it is very competitive. My advice? Don't join because you're "bored." Join if it's your desire. Be sure that whichever branch(es) you investigate, speak with a healthcare recruiter -- the regular recruiters don't know as much about military nursing as the healthcare folks.

Yeah, i talked to a Navy nursing recruiter today and he said they have filled all their seats (quotas) till the end of FY 2012.

The answer should be easy.

Would you rather get air sick or sea sick?

lol
