Navy NCP FY2014 'Role call'

Published

Hi all,

I' d like to connect with other Navy NCP FY 2014 students. There was a thread started awhile back about someone starting a FB page for us but no one replies to the 'friend request' :-( Any 2014'ers out there?

I live in IL, married with children, and my husband is a retired Seabee. I graduate April 2014, hope to take the NCLEX in June '14.

I'm also affected by a delay until May....wondering if anyone else that put in their kit in Oct also experienced this...

That's awesome slc1984!! Congrats!! I just talked with the detailer today, I'm also headed to Portsmouth! I was hoping to stay west coast but it wasn't in the cards for me this time around :/ I guess there are still a lot of new ensigns in SD and the few spots they have are going to applicants with military spouses assigned in SD already. I'm hoping to take (and pass!) the NCLEX in January (I've heard California takes a little longer to give us the okay to sign up for a NCLEX test date/get results back). He said I will either be Feb 5th ODS class or pushed to March depending on when I get my results. So long story short, hopefully I will see some of you in the next 7 months or so :)

Yay! Sorry you didn't get Cali though :( My NCLEX is going to be a little weird. We graduate December 18th which puts the day that our grades have to be in around Christmas break which means they may not be put in until the beginning of January. So I may not be able to test until Feb. And I guess with the government shutdown there are no FBI background checks happening and they don't know how long it will take to get that out of backlog so licenses may be delayed too. Blah. Too much to even think about at this point lol!

Just got my "dream sheet" emailed to me today! I am so excited! :D

So update on my end - I had wanted SD first, then Bethesda, then Portsmouth...when I initially heard from the detailer it sounded like I was headed to Portsmouth. But I called back and asked if any openings came up at Bethesda, and lucky me, he had some people decide to switch to Ft Belvoir (small community hospital associated with Bethesda) and Portsmouth - so long story short, I'm heading to Bethesda after all :) super excited!! Anyone else hear back? or heading with me to Walter Reed?

I'm hoping for Bethesda, too! I won't hear back for awhile though. (Graduating in May.) Hopefully if I do go there, we'll see each other there! :)

Hey elisabethm! I think all of us graduating in the next +/- 6 months got the dream sheet... I got that email yesterday, too :-)

I'm so excited and nervous at the same time... Took me no time flat to do things in life... like start a business, buy houses, have children, move regionally, and choose a college....but here I am...sweating my first duty station like a teenager! LOL

Am I the only one that has no interest in going to any of the big 3? LOL I don't like traffic... Has anyone heard any "rumors" about JAX or Lejeune?

I just want a big busy hospital where I can hopefully learn the most. I'm doing my clinicals at an Air Force base clinic right now and it's pretty slow. I don't know much about any Navy bases and wasn't sure which ones had good hospitals lol so I put the big 3 :D

Hey everyone! Congrats! I am currently finishing and graduating June14 and looking forward to it. I also received my "dream sheet" and hopefully I get my first choice :) !

Hey there! Any April/May/June grads hearing from the detailer or accessions yet? Any discussions about your DPS? Sent mine back and haven't heard from anyone... Hoping to square away soon :-)

The person who sent me my dream sheet said that we would begin contacting our detailer sometime after the holidays. I haven't gotten any feedback on my dream sheet other than an initial confirmation email saying that it was received.

Congrats guys !

I was wondering if its too late for me to apply to the NCP.

I don't start my 2-year BSN program until Aug 2014, so I will graduate Aug 2016.

Please advise. Thanks !

Nope, you have to have between 12 and 24 months of nursing school left when you apply so you are right at the beginning :)
