Nau Nursing Spring 2016

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi everybody, I decided to start this post because I spend all day everyday looking for answers that will calm my nerves about applying to yet another nursing school program. I currently have all of my prerequisites complete and I have a GPA of a 3.75 (is that GOOD?). I have not taken my Kaplan yet so I am hoping some people that have already take it can comment on her and give their advice on hard it was and what the best study materials are. It helps me to hear other peoples stories so I can kind of base my situation off of theirs. I'm hoping that my GPA is good enough and if I get at least a 85 on the Kaplan that I will get into the Tucson location. With only 20 spots available it just makes me a little nervous. I want this to be a post where anybody can post question and get answers in order to clear up confusion, or help people who are like me and just need some reassurance on their GPA and Kaplan score.

Do they allow you guys to share the Kaplan study guide?

I am an alternate for the Tucson campus. Does anyone know how likely alternates are in getting into the program?

I'm not sure. Do you know how we can find out what number we are on the lists? If I'm like #10 then I'm going with yuma and not risking it with flagstaff.

I was able to e-mail the dean of nursing today and she replied back with my rank on the alternate list. I am #3 on the list for the Tucson campus.

That's awesome! I'm sure you'll get a spot! Thank you for letting me know. I'll email her too! Good luck!

Has anyone received their letter in the actual mail yet? I thought it would be here for sure today but the mail came and it wasn't in there.

I received my physical letter today, so it probably came yesterday when I didn't check the mail. I've been admitted to the Tucson location.

Congratulations! Thanks, I got my papers yesterday too!

I'm having a hard time finding someone to do the physical. I don't have a primary care doctor so I tried two walk in clinics and they said they can't do it because nurse practitioners aren't qualified enough to fill it out. What the heck, is this true? ?

Hi LeaGlind, since you've been through the entire program, I'd like to ask you a question about the textbooks. Would you recommend purchasing brand new textbooks or can I get away with buying used books? Because I'd like to know if the professors require/use the online access codes that come only in new textbooks to supplement the class with? If not, then I can save money and buy used books.

Hi Cocobean15 I had a few questions I was wondering if you could answer. First, how did you end up at Tucsob campus when you applied to Yuma and flagstaff? I really want to stay here in Tucson and I'm thinking of only applying to Tucson campus..would that be a good choice? Secondly, how did you study for the Kaplan exam? So far I have a 3.7 gpa but I am terrified my Kaplan score won't be enough. If you could help answer any questions please let me know! My email is [email protected]
