NAU BSN applications?

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I'm applying to Northern Arizona University Accelerated BSN program for this summer. I'm just curious to see if anyone else is also, or if anyone has any tips, words of wisdom, etc., about NAU. Thanks!

It sounds like with your GPA and HESI score, you may have a good chance to get in also! I have a minor in Anthro, and loved the biological anthro classes I took! Where are you living now? Are NAU and UNM the only schools you're applying to now? One of my good friends who is an NP got her MSN from UNM. Have you submitted your app yet? I'm waiting till my last fall grade at ASU gets posted. I am hoping that NAU will send out letters of acceptance or denial sooner than later. I hate waiting!

Hey northernmel, did you get your application in? I'm anxiously waiting a response, but I expect maybe it'll be a few more weeks. Did anyone at NAU tell you when letters would be sent? Let me know when you get your letter and I'll do the same! Good luck!!!!!

Hey Y,

I finally sent out my application out last week, so now for the hard part: waiting. A few months ago, an adviser told me they send out letters in mid-March. I was going to hold off on moving until then, but that doesn’t give me a lot of time to work out the logistics of leaving Alaska. So, with that in mind, I decided to move to Flagstaff whether I’m accepted or not. If I don’t get in, I will take a couple more classes and do some more volunteer work. That way I’ll be eligible to apply to a few other programs next spring/summer. I’m still applying to the UNM program, though that may be a long shot. They get around 75 applicants per cycle and only accept eight. And residency accounts for 10% of the points.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything. Good luck to you too!

that' awesome that you just decided to up and move! it seems like you'll have no problem getting into nau anyway, so it sounds like a smart move. your gpa and hesi score look stellar!

i just got my hesi account information emailed to me from evolve, and you can go compare your individual section scores with the rest of the "class", and it looks like our scores are well above the average scores. (i'm guesing on you based on your composite score) i'm assuming the "class" consisted of the nau applicants, since you log in with a department code.

i was told that letters will most likely go out in february. i'm hoping that's the case. i'll go crazy waiting through mid march! well, good luck with your move and good luck with the acceptance...let me know when you find out!!!

your greeting of “hey y” threw me off. i was like, “who’s ‘y’?” oh yeah…my screen name:p

Hey northernmel, have you heard anything from NAU yet??? I'm going crazy waiting, but I know that the time is coming near when they will be sending out letters. Could be anyday now! I checked on their online student page, LOUIE, and they loaded my major as the aBSN, but the application status just says complete, not accepted. I don't know if they load that major for everyone who applied, or just those that got in, so the not knowing is killing me! Wishing you good luck still! Let me know when you get your letter and I'll do the same!

I applied too, to the aBSN program at NAU. I was told that letters were going out end of this week or early next week. And yes, I think that they load that page on LOUIE for everyone who has applied, as I have the same message.

Good luck to everyone who applied, and let us know when you get a letter!

Good luck jac! I'll post when my letter comes. When did they tell you abut the letters? Did they give you any clue as to what the stats were for accepted GPA, HESI, etc?

Hello, I haven't heard anything yet either. When I asked a while back, I was told that they would make a decision in early March. I haven't logged into LOUIE yet, so I'm not sure what it lists for my major. All I know is that the suspense is killing me!

Good luck to everyone.

Let me know if you hear anything.

Hey northernmel, I hope your move went well. Did you get curious enough to log into LOUIE and see if the aBSN is loaded as your major? I'm like you ...the suspense is killing me. My heart skips a beat everytime I check the mail. Boo... I just wish it would come already!

Hey there,

My move has not been made yet--I'm still in Alaska but plan to head south in a couple weeks. I can't wait to experience warmth again!

I did log into LOUIE and like you and jac, it states that my major is accelerated BSN nursing. So I'm not sure if that means anything or not?

And yes, checking the mail has taken on whole new dimension!

Have you applied to any other programs?

i applied to university of colorado at denver because that's where i got my ba from, but their program doesn't start until jan 2010. i'm really hoping i get nau because we aren't realistically prepared to move back to colorado yet.

my boyfriend has a very successful private practice that he just expanded, and we can't sell our home in this economy, so it'd be best for all of us to stay here for a few more years. plus, i have a toddler and i love his school, and i'm not ready to have him leave it yet.

but, if i get into nau, i'll have some finagling to do seeing as how i live in phoenix. the commuting will get interesting, but it's just for a year and a half and obviously will better my life tremendously! i'm sick of having a liberal arts degree that earns me a whole lotta squat!!!

did you end up hearing from unm yet? okay, i've rambled enough:imbar. good luck!!!

AHH my whole note just was deleted! How frustrating!

I GOT IN!!!!!! I called the advising center yesterday and was asking questions about scholarships, when the secretary lady (who I have met before and is SO nice) asked me my last name, and then was just like "We offered you admission, Jacki!" Imagine the surprise! Just sitting there talking about scholarships! I started screaming. HAHA.

Letters went out yesterday from NAU, so everyone should hopefully get them soon! I would imagine you two will get in, I have been scouring these message boards for months worried that all 60 applicants were as bright as the two of you! I bombed my A and P part of the HESI and ended up getting a 89.76 (I think), but had a 3.75 and I volunteer at Banner here in Mesa.

Good luck to you guys and let me know what happens!!!

YAAAAAAAAY!
