National University SD Cohort 58 - Apr 2019

Published

Hello to everyone that is applying for Cohort 58 ABSN program at the San Diego location for National University. This is going to be my first time to apply. Getting more nervous as the October Application date approaches. I feel confident in my scores for the TEAS test and my current GPA from the core sciences required, but this essay is starting to make my stomach spin. I've met with a writing advisor at Spectrum Writing Center, so I feel prepared in what to expect to be successful in writing this proctored essay, but will it be enough?

I've spoken with one other that has applied to Cohort 58 as well. Wondering if there is anyone else out there on this same journey feeling the same way I am.

I am excited to hear from anyone attempting to apply for this Cohort!

Well... 49 spots left!

Seriously though I hope that I can get this process behind me and focus on my professional career as a practicing nurse.

Excited to meet others also after this is all done Samantha. Good Luck!

Gotcha man, and Good luck!

I looked back at April 2018 cohort and acceptance (or not) was posted on dec 21. Keeping fingers crossed that we don't have to wait until Winter break is over to find out if we're accepted into the program.

That would be awesome! I hope it is only 19 days away

Happy Holidays!

The essay has me nervous. I had a prompt that I didn't go over beforehand because it was the one I didn't want to get (classic avoidance hee hee). It was very difficult to put in the standard 5 paragraph essay format, although I did it. I felt it was a disastrous essay, but I always expect the worst and hope for the best (classic coping mechanism). I did finish and had time to proofread but it just seemed all over the place, like my paragraphs didn't flow smoothly.

I felt I had a pretty solid chance of getting accepted into the program with my GPA and TEAS scores, but after the essay I am not so sure. Kind of gut wrenching after all the hard work that goes into everything, then to feel that it can be taken away because of a two paper (very subjective) essay.

So here is my question, not that it really matters at this point besides perhaps giving me piece of mind...If we have a strong GPA and a strong TEAS score and completely BOMB the essay is there still a chance we can get in? Has anyone else ever been in that situation? I looked on past posts and cohorts and couldn't seem to find anyone in a similar situation. Mostly, it appeared that the essay tended to help out people that had less than ideal GPA or TEAS scores.

What are your gpa and teas score? I feel the same about the essay

Oliver12343, I wish I could message on this thing but I don't have enough posts yet apparently. 4.0 and 90.7. So I need a 3/5 on essay? Uggggg....

Omg you are fine! I have a 3.6 and 87.4 on teas... I don't know how to feel about the essay

I hope so. I truely feel that you are good as well, but I know that me telling you that doesn't help much. I am going to try and not worry about it or get on here much anymore until we find out if we are in the program or not. I just needed some moral support I suppose, and family and friends can only help so much in that category since they aren't directly experiencing the stress/anxiety of the whole situation. Sometimes you just need support from people who are in it with you to say it will be okay and give you an "atta boy" or "atta girl" I guess. I know I will continue to need in once in the program and I will am more than willing to be supportive of you and everyone else once we are in as well. (see how I am saying "once we are in" *wink) So Thank you! I appreciate all the help on here.

I totally get it. What's killing me is not knowing if we are gonna find out by Dec 21 or if we are gonna find out the second week of January....

Does anyone know if we are hearing back this week or no?
