Hello to everyone that is applying for Cohort 58 ABSN program at the San Diego location for National University. This is going to be my first time to apply. Getting more nervous as the October Application date approaches. I feel confident in my scores for the TEAS test and my current GPA from the core sciences required, but this essay is starting to make my stomach spin. I've met with a writing advisor at Spectrum Writing Center, so I feel prepared in what to expect to be successful in writing this proctored essay, but will it be enough?
I've spoken with one other that has applied to Cohort 58 as well. Wondering if there is anyone else out there on this same journey feeling the same way I am.
I am excited to hear from anyone attempting to apply for this Cohort!

Hi! I applied today! I take the TEAS 10/29 through ATI and I am a nervous wreck about it. I will retake it with National if needed when they set up that date. I also looked at the last forum and someone said they look at past repeats and I have a couple (ended up receiving A's in the end) and that scares me because every advisor from national said they only look your last attempt!!! Elizabeth also calculated my score and said I have a 3.6 (thanks to a B and C in micro lecture/lab) she said I need an 84-88 to be competitive and that's with a 4-4.5 on the essay. If anyone has any insight please let me know!
You have the right idea to take the TEAS test before you take it at National. It might not be much time in-between the time National schedules the test, but it will give you an idea of areas to focus on to try to improve it a bit. They take the highest TEAS out of them, so be sure to bring the ATI print out showing your official score. We should get more information about that when we get the email of when the test/essay will be.
You have a great GPA. Hit that 84+ for your TEAS and you'll have some cushion to work with on your essay.
Good luck to you and everyone!

Hello,
I applied for the cohort 57 and just heard back today and I was denied. I went in with all A's and one B and not too hot on the TEAS and still waiting for a call back to hear about my essay score. I took the TEAS 4x at SDSU before taking it at national and it is hard. I am hoping to improve my TEAS score to an 85 and study the essay prompts to better my chances. Good luck to everyone!
What was your teas score if you don't mind me asking?
I have taken the TEAS at SDSU in July and made an 86. My GPA is 3.84 from the core classes taken recently all through National.
I really enjoy the format of the classes I've taken so far.
I will try to improve the TEAS in November and see how well I do with the essay. I think they are done on the same day.
These are the thresholds for acceptance for last Cohort(57).
Accepted total score cut-off: 85.47
Cut-off score for alternates: 84.4
I turned in a sad 70 for my TEAS not well at all but I did try so Ive been studying the areas I didn't do well in on the TEAS. for me it was the english and science part so since then i had an english tutor and tried other methods of relearning science.
I got lucky in the science area from recently taking A&P this year. English Grammar/Sentence structure got me bad also. Thats why I'm studying mainly on that area for the next few weeks. Hopefully it will help me improve my essay score.
Did anyone else notice the number next to the cohort 58? Mine said 84 and a girl I know hit the application below me and it said 67 (this was 2 days ago) wondering if those added are current applications
You should be good!
Possibly, but who knows.
As soon as October 19th passes they usually have the amount of applications available if we ask. I'm waiting to see until after we take our TEAS/Essay for the actual amount. Last cohort many didn't show up and it dropped the amount that applied some.
Has anyone gone to the writing center and seen the essay prompts?
