Anyone else out there going to apply to cohort 40?
I'm also very frustrated with ALL of the changes that are happening and nobody seems to have a clue!
@Babeinboots- Cohort 41 is suppoosed to start in January. I hope I find out about acceptance by the end of October. At this point I'm just trying to be optimistic and patient, haha. Are going to be starting soon in LA?
Oh, that's right around the corner. Hopefully you guys will find out soon; the wait is the hardest part. We only got a month and a half notice, we start next month. I'm really excited but I still have a few things to complete before the first class.
Did you have to complete the new requirements before you applied or were you "grandfathered" in and were able to apply with the old requirements and finish the new ones later?
I applied for the ABSN so many of the new requirements did not affect me. I had to do a couple courses like ethics and health informatics, which I am doing now, but nothing too strenuous which is good.
I heard not very many people applied to this cohort, so hopefully that ups my chances. I feel nervous because my overall points score is just right on or just over the cusp of last cohorts cutoff, depending on my essay score, so it all depends on how this cohorts applicants look on paper.
It must be such an awesome feeling for you to know that you get to start so soon! I remember them saying in the info session that there are quite a few things to get done before starting the program, so I bet you've been busy.
Anyway. Good luck to you!
Hey JessyJessG,
Yes, I've been pretty busy but I'm almost done with everything that needs to be done by next month. I even ordered my first nursing book already which was pretty exciting.
Yea, I know the new requirements stopped quite a few people for being eligible to apply. I bet the applications period beginning next year will have a lot more applicants and may be more competitive.
I know it's hard not to, but don't worry too much. If it is your time to start the program then you will get in. I was the first alternate for my cohort and I got in. I will be rooting for you.
Hey guys!I applied to cohort 42. How exactly do the gpa points add up?
To calculate your TEAS score, you take your score, divide it by 100, and then multiply by 40. (example: 84/100=84 x 40= 33.6 So you would have 33.6 out of the 40 points) The GPA is a little trickier, usually people never get the same score as National provides. When I did it on my own, it was lower than the one National had on file. But you take your GPA, divide it by 4.00 and then multiple that number by 40. Lastly is the essay and you just take the score you get, divide it by 5 and then multiple by 20. I am using the new % of TEAS 40%, GPA 40%, and Essay 20%.
Hope that helps.

Thanks babeinboots! I'm trying to stay positive, because I do feel reasonably confident. It's just the whole not set in stone thing that sometimes makes me nervous because I remember that I am just one of many! But I cant wait to see my status change on SOAR. I'm going to will it to happen :)

Hi! I had a 3.9 GPA for the science prerequisites, an 81.3 on the TEAS, and I haven't gotten my essay score yet. Good luck!
