National University SD Cohort 39

Published

Hello, Im creating a thread for those who are applying to National University SD cohort 39 starting july 2014. I figured we can all post our experience through this process of applying.

Good luck to all.

83.49 was the highest minimum of the last six or so cohorts which just occurred for cohort 39. Since I have been tracking the minimum scores, they have ranged between 82.81 and 83.49. This has been over the last year or more. So I am praying for at least an 84.

I also found out that NSG 280 is Human Development (I think).

The addition of pre-req's is definitely something I did not want to hear!

I just got word from my advisor after he calculated my points thus far and I have 72.1 (before the essay).. that means a 72.1/80... I feel pretty good about my essay, but it is all relative to the readers, and that makes me so nervous!! I am praying for at the very least a 3/5 which would give me a total of 84.1/100... I pray for us all to get in this round!! I can't see myself spending more money on pre-req's.. so if I don't get in this round, I won't be trying again at NU :(

Does anyone know when we will find out?

I am currently standing at 73.19 before the essay. I hoping for at least a 3 on the essay to put me at 85.19. Hopefully that will get me in. Ya, I defiantly don't want to take all these additional classes. JJ Omar said 3-4 weeks

We are supposed to find out by end of February!

My advisor, who hasn't been very accurate in the past, told me I'd find out if I was accepted or not by May... I hope he is way off and you all are right about getting notified by end of February!!

But I've seen the trend is about 3 months from the application date (January 16) which would make it around march 16 that we find out.

i have also seen the past cohorts timeframe.. Friday after the test I asked JJ Omar when we would find out and he said 3-4 weeks. Hopefully they will stick to that date cause I'm already on pins and needles.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone know that the curriculum was going to change in advance?? The letter I got (in January 14') said that the change has been an ongoing process/discussion for the last two years and is now finally rolling out. I kind of find it annoying I had no idea about it till a few weeks ago. Maybe I missed something, but you would think my advisor would have mentioned something.

I never received a letter. My advisor called me and informed me of the bad news.

Well not only do they require more classes, four of the classes they mandated me to take in order to apply to their program are now of NO USE. They are NO LONGER REQUIRED. Also, I do not see these courses on the required lists at other universities, OMG. There went 6K and four months of study. In case anyone is scheduled for the classes that will no longer be necessary and want to know what they are, give me a holler and I will share what I have heard. It seems while they notified some students of the new requirements, I am not sure they notified those students of what they will no longer need. Some students may not want to keep taking these classes that are no longer necessary and switch to the ones that will be required. Please good Lord let me into Cohort 39.

I was also informed by my counselor, not via letter. Wait what? Which classes will no longer be required? I thought that the current requirements for nursing school admission were pretty standard compared to other schools, except for Biomedical Stats.
