Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

i also got accepted to cohort 25. i learned that for our cohort, there were almost 300 applicants. out of that, only 250 qualified and allowed to proceed to take the teas exam, and the top 50 were accepted. if you want to know about your specific overall ranking among those 250 takers, you can email the nu nursing department. i requested for it, so i know where i stand in the class. i look forward to meeting you!

sorry for the delay in my response. with orientation, thanksgiving, getting ready for january, etc, i've been so busy! i'm sure you have been also. congrats on getting into cohort 25! what did you think about orientation? i was sitting in the 2nd to last row on the right. i enjoyed meeting the faculty and our fellow classmates. i'm so nervous, excited, and anxious to begin class already!!

Hi all!

I've only somewhat recently began pursuing nursing and am trying to find out about the various post-bachelors programs around SD.

Does anyone out there know how National University's aBSN holds up compared to CSUSMs? In anyone's experience, do you know if higher level nursing programs have a preference over where the BSN was obtained (so long as the schools are accredited, of course.)? If so, how do they determine where the more desirable applicants come from?

This info would really be very helpful to me. I only have two prereqs to go if I decided to apply to National but am hesitant because I'm not sure of their reputation although they it all sounds good to me!

I applied for the NU in Los Angeles and will attend the Nursing Forum Info Forum in January for the Accelerated BSN. I need to take the "Preparation for the Major" classes like Anatomy, Physiology, etc. Will I take those once I'm accepted into the program, or I'd need to complete those first? How does it work? I'd like to take them at NU since I've always been on the waitlists for the science prereqs at the community colleges here.

Also, I've just applied and haven't done the interview to get into the school yet (I just talked to an admissions person who sent me info to attend the nursing forum). How are the interviews and what do they ask?

I think you will find the Nursing forum extremely helpful. Be sure to take a pen and paper so you can write down as much information as possible. They go over a lot of information fairly quickly. About the preparation classes, you will need to take those before you can apply to the program. The better you do in those classes the higher your chances of getting into the program. They will do a breakdown at the nursing forum of how they determine the which 50 students will make it into each cohort. Good luck. :)

To EvyValdez - I know who you are! I'm the blonde who sat next to you at orientation and ate lunch with you during our lunch break of our first class. Know who I am?? It's great to see you chatting it up on here, too! Now you know that I was the one asking all of the silly questions on this message board. And now you know my level of nervousness, too!

To ExPharmaGirl - So, the first day is nothing like the rest of the program...do you mean it only gets better from here, or....? Please expand on this - thanks! In my opinion, iIt seems like my cohort might need a few more class meetings until the ice is officially broken with our group (I suppose just like any other class I've taken). We all seemed pretty nervous that day, especially with all of that philosophical talk, and I could sense some competativeness :bugeyes: (we should only be competing with ourselves. We already made it into the program, why compete with anyone else?). I hope National continues to approach us as if we are starting from the ground up, in terms of medical experience. How are your classes going, and what has been your favorite class so far? Now that you are further into the program, is it seeming more difficult for everyone to balance school, work, life, etc? In other words, has the intensity of the schoolwork load increased so much that it is nearly impossible to work? Thank you so much for your insight! :up:

Hi all, I'm new to this forums and I might be off topic, but I had a question regarding NU's bridging program (LVN-BSN) does anyone know if they accept the LVN license from Concorde? I am planning on attending Concorde then to NU? Anyone have advice..? thanks!

Cconde-have you talked to an advisor? Mine has been very helpful this whole time so they might be able to give you the right answer.

Thank you very much for replying, yes i called, and they said that as long as i get my license it should not matter, Concorde has a 92.31% for the NCLEX so im sure i will be fine.
