Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

went to another info session. they didn't even mention the cost this time!! I'm sure they didn't want to scare people away! From what it sounds like, they're trying to convert to more of an "online" model. Curious from people who are currently enrolled, what percentage of your classes were online only?

Hi djxpress - Did they give any info about minimum Teas scores or total scores (GPA, # of attempts, essay, teas)? Also, did they say anything about how many people are applying on average?

Thanks!

Hi Tutubalu,

Im in cohort 26. I am excited but very nervous to start the program. I would love to meet fellow classmates, I think that will greatly help me with my anxieties, LOL!

Tutubalu & Luine78:

Hi fellow classmates! I am in cohort 26 as well. I can't believe that orientation is already in a few weeks & that classes start in a little over a month! I live in Southeast San Diego, but I am always up North during the weekdays & weekends. I'm fine with meeting up wherever. I would love to meet you guys before the big day! :)

Tutubalu, Luine78 and love5star- you all are starting in cohort 26 right? I am right behind you, waiting to hear from NU to hopefully start in July..if you don't mind sharing....did you find out what the stats were for your class re TEAS scores, GPAs etc? I should hear this week, but the wait is killing me....Thanks and congrats to all of you!!!

Hi there! When does cohort 26 start? I am waiting to get my results from the December 3rd, 2010 ap period (we should know by next week). If you don't mind me asking, what were your scores (Teas, etc.?) and how were you notified (email/regular mail). Does the acceptance letter come with orientation info in a big package or just a regular envelope.

Sorry for all of the ?'s - I just want to know what to look for. Thanks!

Hey NUhopeful, 26 starts April 4th, as for the ones after that I'm not sure on the exact dates. I think my Teas score was like 83% and I was notified by mail. The acceptance letter came in a big envelope with just a couple of pages in it, nothing huge =] Good luck hope you find out soon!

Thank you for the details Tutubalu;)

Hello sdopem!

Sorry I didn't ask what our stats were. I'm not sure if they will announce it at our upcoming orientation. I understand about the wait but don't worry, it'll all be worth it! I hope you get in though & good luck!!! :)

djxpress- I don't know anything about them trying to move to an online model... Our Theory class was half online and half in class, and the only other class I know of thats online in Nursing Research. Maybe there are others I'm not aware of, and maybe they are trying to make a couple others online, but I don't think that's the goal for the whole program. As for the pricing, the cost is the same as any other classes at National (lab classes are more $$), and that info is readily available online. Anyone who is seriously considering this program should be looking into the costs ahead of time, there's no doubt it's a LOT of money!

Apologies for not responding sooner on tips for Pharm. The publisher Mosby makes a little pocket flip guide for pharmacology. I got it about a month ago and would definitely recommend it. It's no substitute for reading the book, but it summarizes the drug classes nicely and makes it a little easier to understand.

How is Pharm going so far cohort 25ers?? Hope you're all hanging in there! :)

Hi from cohort 23! Your pharm will get a lot easier than our pharm was. We were in class 3 times a week with the head of the dept. who was something else! Yours will be online from what I understand and you will have the teacher who I had for my clinicals (a nightmare in clinicals, but should be ok as an online instructor).

Your assessment theory instructor is AWESOME. I had her for assessment and med surg I! I wish I could have her for the whole program!

Glad people are finally opening up!

Hey Cali2384!

No worries on not responding sooner on the pharm tips. I've honestly been so busy w/ pharm that I haven't logged on until today. LOL Thanks for the tip! I saw a couple people in class had them and I dug the way they were set up. I heard from an earlier cohort-er that they're handy when you get to Med-Surg as well.

Pharm is pretty crazy, tmrw is our first quiz, Mon is our midterm and everyone is running around like crazies. I was on the verge of having my first freak out, wondering how the heck I was going to remember all this stuff when I re-read your old post and how there's just no way to know it all. It's made me feel tons better about tmrw. Well, that and I'm at the point where it's like what else can I do in the realm of human possibility? Not much, unless I suddenly get some crazy superhuman power where I don't need sleep or develop super photographic memory. LOL

Hi ExPharmGirl!

Well, I'm not sure if our class has necessarily gotten easier, we still meet 3x week and our teacher is the dept head so it definitely doesn't feel easier. I know that the PPTs are being re-done b/c she realized that pathophysiology was not a required prereq to the program and basically she had been operating under the idea that it was. So all the PPTs have been updated w/ some basic pathophysiology. We have our first quiz tmrw and midterm Mon so I will let you know how that turns out. LOL I have heard, however, that starting w/ Cohort 26, pharm will now be a 2 month course instead of 1 month. So, even though the program is a month longer for them, they've got longer to do pharm, which must be nice. I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm slightly envious of them. LOL

All in all, even though I sometimes complain and feel stressed, I am still happy that I'm here. I really feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be and doing exactly what I should be doing...and that feels AWESOME! Now that we're into our third month, we're starting to all really bond and get close which is great. Plus, it's nice because people are really starting to realize we need to help each other.

BTW, just wanted to thank you both for your tips, insights...being an outlet to "talk" to. Afterall, who else can understand what a nursing student goes through besides another nursing student? LOL Wishing you both good juju/vibes/luck as the month goes on!

So far Cohort 26 is still scheduled for Pharm in June and then Foundations in July. After reading what is posted here, I sort of hope that maybe they will change it for us! Orientation is this Friday and the schedule for Nursing Theories and Models is still TBA, so there is still hope.

I've been reading along with you gals and it's been great to get an idea of what is to come. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
