Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

Cohort 24,

Sounds like orientation went well! Wish I could still start with you guys, I will be moving to the April start date unfortunately but I wish all of you the best!

happymommy3,

Thank you so much, that was very helpful. What is this test though that they make you take?

The test that they gave at orientation was a critical thinking test through ATI. So it is the same website and format as the TEAS, but the questions are really just random critical thinking questions to see your reasoning in various situations. Not really medical related. It's 40 questions and took about 30 minutes. As happymommy3 said, it's not something to stress about, and not really something you can (or should try to) prep for.

Orientation was really great and allowed us to meet the people who we'll be seeing for the next 2 years. I can't wait for classes to start next month!

ps- did any of you at orientation happen to catch the title of the Health Assessment textbook? I wrote down the info she gave my, but don't have my note with me and was going to try and look it up to get it ordered. Can you provide the info if you have it?

Wow, I just read through 30 pages of this thread. I have to say, after being intent on going the ADN route for the last 9 months I'd much prefer to go to National now. I submitted my application for the university today. I received confirmation that it was received and processed. I'm supposed to call my adviser tomorrow to arrange to enroll in courses.

I hope you might give me a run down of your entire process through national (step by step.) It'd really help my anxiety about the process. Were you able to enroll in courses before you submitted your transcripts? Did you take the CLEP for any of your credits? How much is and how often do you make tuition payments? Are you allowed to apply to the nursing program with any prerequisites in progress?

Sorry for all of the questions and thanks so much in advance!

Cali - To my knowledge, (and I can't prove this) the last cohort was still using the Jarvis "Physical Education and Health Assessment" 5th edition text. If you go onto your SOAR website and look under student center/class schedule and scroll to the right, it should have the up to date information listed.

Heart - I was able to enroll in classes before my transcripts were received. I did not take CLEP for any of my credits. Tuition is going up (it will every year. I understand) and I am not sure when the new rates go into effect...however, for my Oct/Nov clinical and theory class, I am paying a total of $3,447.00. This includes nursing fees and does not include books. This is typical for most clinical classes. Charges hit your account approximately 10 days prior to the start date of the class. I was NOT allowed to apply to the nursing program until all of my prerequisites were finished, but before my cohort, National allowed it. I assume they are still requiring all prerequisites to be completed prior to application.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have. I can only answer based on my experience, but I was on this thread every day during my application process. Other students helped me understand the reality of what to expect. Haha, I think it was page 80 or something like that! One thing you will find with National is that your fellow students are typically the BEST source of information. Best of luck to all!

Cohort 24, I'm in my 3rd class and loving it :yeah:

You will survive health assessment, we all did. It may not seem like it at first. You have no idea what I'm talking about, but just wait ;)

Thanks for the info ExPharmaGirl! I'm so worried about that class... Nightmares!

LOL! I work full-time, we had class 4 days a week, went through a 900 page book and had a ridiculous amount of work to do. Then I got the flu. It was just peachy. But I pulled off an "A". It really should have been an 8 week class!

Uhh did u sleep at all? :/

Specializes in Near Future: ED, Future Future: ACNP!.

4.5 hours a night plus 45 mins in my car at lunch :)

This month is a little more calm in terms of my schedule, but the books seem to be getting bigger every month...

Oh my 4.5 hours...

At what times were the classes?
