Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

I have a question for those who have already attended the orientation. For Cohort 25, it is not until November. Are there any vacation breaks during the 22 months? My MIL wants to plan a family vacation and I told her that there isn't a lot of time off but I wanted to know if there are any week long breaks and if so, when. Thanks for any help!

Im in cohort 24 starting in October. My classes are scheduled til the end of next year and the only time we are off is from december 18th til january 3rd or something like that and then only one week in the summer... Its the week before 4th of July...

Not much vacation time during the program :(

Thanks Bubbles2610! I appreciate the help :)

I'm pretty sure we have 4 weeks off each year, 2 week for winter, one week for summer, and one week for spring(I think). You have homework due for the next class during those breaks, though it depends on the teacher/class.

Thanks Murse520! I ended up calling the school today and they told me the dates. You are right, 4 weeks for the year. Spring, Summer and 2 weeks at winter. I appreciate the response.

ORIENTATION TOMORROW! :)

Does anyone know what that preliminary test is all about?

...and this is kind of silly but are they serious with the business attire? (I run around in business attire all week... Would be nice to have a day off ;) )

See u all tomorrow cohort 24!

Looking forward to seeing you cohort 24ers tomorrow at orientation! Can't believe it's finally here. I've been looking forward to this for months!!

I know what you mean about business attire. Luckily my job has had "casual August" so, ironically, tomorrow is the one day this month that I have to dress up! :)

Hi Bubbles~

It was so nice meeting you on Saturday! I'm so excited about Orientation tomorrow!

What preliminary test?

I'm glad we met happymommy! At least I know someone :)

Oh and I did that library tutorial... Late at night... And I absolutely failed ;)

I was reading about some preliminary test...it's on one of the million papers they send us. I have no clue what it is about :/

Hey Cohort 24~

Now that orientation is done, I guess we're officially nursing students! :nurse: I'm so excited about starting classes, but I'm a little nervous too. Seems like we're in for a lot of work! Best of luck to everyone--see you next month! :yeah:

happymommy3,

What was orientation like? Im in LA and have orientation on Sept 17. I was curious to know what they go over and supply you since they charge a good amount for orientation.

Thanks!

Hi moonshadow~

Orientation was very informative. We learned about the ATI training and testing system, which looks like it will be really useful in helping us prepare for the NCLEX. We met the lead faculty, who are also some of our teachers. The teacher of our first class went over our syllabus and class schedule (Monday theory class 9-2, and the rest is online). They showed us how to use the computer systems we will be using throughout the program. We signed some forms, were fitted for our scrubs, got our school ID card, turned in our paperwork, and took a preliminary test (nothing you can prepare for, and nothing to stress about). We had a question and answer session, ate lunch, and had an opportunity to talk with the faculty individually. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, so if anyone else wants to add anything, that would be great! Overall, it was informative and gave me the feeling that nursing school is finally really going to start! :hpygrp:

I hope that helps give you an idea of what to expect! Best of luck! :D
