I am hoping to hear some feedback or thoughts on National as well. I am currently considering Apollo (Las Vegas campus), Nevada State College and wanted to find out more about National University. ANYONE?

plus think if you want anything beyond your aa degree, some of the schools you mentioned won't even accept the classes you've taken, or transfer to another school.
Thanks cingham. Future plans such as additional schooling is certainly something to consider. I realize everyone's goals are different; accreditation, time, cost and future plans should play a big part in deciding which school to attend.
I went to an Apollo "meet and greet" and what I can say is that I was not impressed, I actually got up and left during their presentation. A power point presentation about why we were there which mostly kept referring back to the students greed for money and all the "ideas" about nursing was lost in that presentation. It didn't feel like a caring place or that the people wanted to help others, it might be a reason for their passing rate. After that experience I went to TU, USN, UNLV, & NSC. I stuck with NSC for my own reasons.
Take a tour of all the schools you listed, its worth it to get your own opinion rather than off the internet. Check out the State Board link I posted and look through the passing rates for all the colleges. In the end your the one writing the check, no one here is, and make sure your going for the right reasons.

Hi everyone, I just signed up because I am also interested in getting into one of the private nursing schools here in Las Vegas for the ASN.
I have an appointment with National University 3pm this Wed and so far I have been told that they offere one class per month on a quater hour basis (Each class cost is $1300 each). Expensive!!! But I think it is still inline with the other private schools and for me I have a few benefits that will pay the tution. There are around 27 classes to complete the degree this includes all prereqs and no transfer in credits, so might be shorter and less expense if you have prereqs and transfer credits. They are regionally accredited and also offer a BSN and are approved by CCNE but I think they may still have provisional approval from the NV state board of nursing, not sure of that yet.
I am also going to the Apollo info session on Wed too, I dont know much about Apollo as the person I spoke with kept telling me that my questions were questions that they go over in the info session, I was not impressed, he also told be that the schedule can be anywhere from mon - fri 8-5 and that I need to be available to go to class anytime in the block and that it is not recommemed that I work a lot because I will also have to study 4-6 hours a night too. They except 24 students per semester.
But I will have more info on Wed and will post any new and corrected information, if anyone can think of specific questions maybe I can get an answer for you on Wed, just let me know.
Also if there are students already enrolled in National University, I would like to hear from them if possible I am interested in how the program is working out for you and how many days do you go.
Thanks

National University, Henderson on Horizon Ridge is an excellent example of a Nursing program that does not have it's poop in a group. Constant changes to the curriculum and increased requirements on the students create a noxious learning environment. They habitually change tests at the last moment without making students aware of the changes or providing a study guide. Tests do not follow the lecture or power point. They then expect students to do well in this situation. They sell the school as one that will nurture the student, but the opposite is true. The disappointment in this institution is crushing. The only reason I give this school 1 star is because they will not allow me to rate it as 0.

FYI this school will be no longer accepting students because they have failed to improve their NCLEX passing rate. Only 20% this last go around. You can go to the BON's website and check out the last "minutes" posted about this. I would definitely not go to a school that costs this much for such a sucky education.
ps Unless you plan on living in Nevada permanently I would not go to a provisional school because then you can only practice in this state.

That's not true provisional means u have to get licensed in NV. ONCE UR LICENSED U CAN TRANSFER UR LICENSE ANYWHERE. THEY DON'T REQUIRE TRANSCRIPTS TO TRANSFER LICENSE. I like NU and am halfway through their program. The clinicals are awesome and the teachers try to help u understand the concepts. I believe NU's flaw was admitting rejected students from CSN and NSC. They were rejected for a reason. But it is a VERY hard program to stay in, the academic requirements u have to maintain are pretty rough. So their pass rate will go up because they won't allow u to sit for NCLEX until u pass their mock exam.
But it's TOO EXPENSIVE so go to a public school unless u have scholarships/grants or work reimbursement.
It doesn't matter what students are admitted..if the education they received doesn't aid them in passing nclex but they pass the program in numbers like that then 0_0
plus NU is like $40,000 CSN is only a couple $1000.....
They teach great. Some people just are not cut out for it. And the price depends on what you transfer in. I just took the program there and it's 27k. But I like the hours so it is work the extra money.
