idk but CSN has parttime NP with weekend and night classes. I just think that private schools are buttheads for charging that much but I guess when you don't get government grants donated to your school you gotta charge the full price plus some to pay the teachers. School is free for me. And it can be for a lot of people...i just hope all these new nurses the private school pump out can find good jobs to help them pay off those loans in a timely manner. No point in making good money if it all goes to bills and loan repayment.

I totally agree the price is very high. But luckily it's considered a two year program even though it's 15 months so if eligible u get two grants. I only go to school one day a week for 4 hours. There are skills and tutoring labs everyday but I don't go too often. And clinical is two days a week usually but we got lucky for OB and just do one really long shift(13 hours)

I started at NU just to retake my science classes they were over 7 years old. At CSN that would have taken me a year or so (3 semesters) but at NU it was 6 months. I planned on NSC But I really like NU The staff is all at the masters level and above and there are a few NP but I have found that I get the best information from---- and the tutor ------. Those two people are amazing. I'm not sure why their pass rate is so low but I have noticed about 80% of nursing students were rejected from csn and NSC due to low grades etc and I really feel they let in anyone who could pay for the school....which was wrong because those people have to pay off these loans they took out, and they should have been more selective. Not just anyone can be a nurse, even with the best training you have to be able to process alot of information and most people cannot My cohourt was the first with all chosen students that met an academic level they felt confident in. We had the same stipulations as CSN and NSC so we will see in 8 months when we pass our boards if their pass rates go up enough. They have to wait for us and the class behind us to finish and take boards to see if they get their approval back again

Thats the problem with private schools....they are able to admit anybody because they aren't held to the same standards as public schools and they let a lot of people in because they can pay! Doesn't it say something to you if they can't pass at CSN or NSC but can at NU?

Also you don't think graduating from a school that had its provisional approval taken away will hurt your chances of finding a job? People from prestigious schools are having a difficult time already.

Most of the hospitals that offer preceptorship go by gpa, not school. My GPA is higher than most so I am hoping that will give me a better leg to stand on. In addition our clinicals are done alot different than NSC or CSN since our semester is only 2 months we get ALOT of floor time and get to develop very strong relationships with the nurses and charge nurses at St rose/Sunrise And a few NU students got jobs at our clinical sites due to that and the instructors at NU only are part time faculty so they have helped Students get jobs as well. Like they always say it's not what u know, it's who. But it is scary not knowing if we will graduate and not find a job.

No offense but you get more floor time because you spend less time at your clinical site? And your instructors are part time but what does that have to do with helping y'all get jobs? My point is after surveying different nurses in hospitals and SNF I have found that generally they prefer nurses from CSN and Reno then UNLV then NSC then anywhere else.
