National University Cohort 53

Published

Hello, my name is Ashley and I have recently applied to the nursing program at NU, cohort 53. I am wondering what are the past cut off points to evaluate my likelihood of being accepted, does anyone know ? Also, here is where is stand, TEAS 84% with 3.25 GPA (low I know) and waiting to take the essay portion. I would love to hear some feedback!

Hey Kelly,

So I talked to Elizabeth in the nursing department and the stats I got was 83.67 for cut off and 81.9 for the alternates. I don't know how the previous cohorts were, but I was informed that it fluctuates.

Hi guys! I've applied to the cohort 52 as well and didn't make it in. My current stats are teas 80.7, gpa of 3.62, and last time I had a 2.6 on the essay. So the essay is what I'm focusing on.

I am beginning to get nervous about the essay, I've heard many say they don't get graded well and are usually an "A" student in English courses.

I strongly recommend practicing putting together a 5 paragraph essay. The essay portion is what really gives you that push towards your overall points. If you have a good teas and gpa, you should focus on the essay.

I originally applied for cohort 49 and I was accepted. Due to health reasons I have deferred to cohort 53. My TEAS score was 86% with a 3.4 GPA and a 5/5 essay score. Good luck to everyone!

Oh wow! Congrats JTwin01! I'm hoping I get in! I just took the TEAS yesterday, and my score was 87.3. My GPA is 3.71 so I'm just hoping my essay is competitive enough as well!

With a GPA and TEAS score like that, I think that you have a high chance of being accepted. When I took the TEAS and scored an 86, Erica told me that I had a high chance of getting in. Scores in the upper 80's are extremely well!

Hi I'm Jim and I was accepted into Cohort 53 at NU commencing in January. My TEAS was 92, GPA 3.92 and I have no idea how I did on the proctored essay but must have done well enough to be accepted. I have a previous BS degree in Biology from WSU and another BS Chemistry so the prerequisite classes I needed were the Anatomy and Physiology I, II. Microbiology transferred from my Washington State University degrees. I'm looking forward to seeing my fellow Cohort 53 colleagues.

I originally was an Alternate for Cohort 52 but when they called and asked if I wanted to accept admittance to Cohort 52,I deferred to Cohort 53. I took the TEAS exam on May 17th 2017 and the proctored essay on the same date.

Yes, the accelerated one is for applicants with a prior Bachelor Degree in any field.

Does anybody know how many spots are actually available to fill since there has been a few deferments I have heard of?

I think there are 40 available and then 10 are alternates from the previous cohort, 50 all together.
