Hi,
I wanted to start this for those who are applying to Cohort 61. Has anyone been to a recent nursing info session where they've gone over anything about the newly added interview component?
Thanks!
This is just my guess I believe is about 45-60,000 I’m not exactly sure. But I know there’s a orientation fee that’s due before the program starts which is about 2,500 if I’m not mistaken and a $250 fee when you get accepted. ???
And I know that the 2gs and the 250 doesn’t come out of financial aid. It’s out of the pocket

Don't think so. they didn't mention anything about piercings or tattoos. But, I am sure that the hospitals you're going to do your clinicals at might have rules about it. I think that is a more specific question to as your nursing advisor.

Hi there Robin! I did not have to do an interview, but I know that having experience in healthcare is not required. Sure, some volunteer hours might look better because it helped you solidify your reasoning for becoming a nurse, but it is not a huge deal if you did not. As long as you know why you want to be a nurse and you can clearly explain that to the nursing staff, I am sure you'll do great.
TIP!! If interviewer asks you ,"so why do you want to be a nurse"
DO NOT say, "because I want to help people" ... It needs to be much more in-depth and personal.
I would say, look at the essay questions that all the past nursing cohorts had to do, and study them by practicing it as if the interviewer asked you it. A lot of the essay questions could be asked in a verbal way.

I remember about 2 years ago when I first went in to a counselor they gave me a piece of paper that said total cost was around 36k... I am sure a lot has changed since then though

Do you know where I could get ahold of old essay questions?

I found my old handout!. You can get this from the Writing center as well!
1. “compare and contrast nursing as science and as an art.”
2. “Describe a time you had to use interpersonal communication to work through a difficult situation”
3. “What are your strengths and weaknesses, and how will those attributes make you a good nurse?”
4. “The nursing program is very rigorous with very little time for personal activities. What do you believe will contribute to your success in nursing?”
5. “Why do you want to be a nurse?”
6. “How will your nursing studies or life experiences contribute to the nursing profession?”
7. “What skills or attributes set you apart and how will these help you while in nursing school or in your nursing career?”
8. “Name a personal experience that shaped you into the person you are today.”
9. "What skills or qualities do you have that will allow you to be a good nurse?"
I hope these help! I would practice with a partner reciting how you would answer these questions or something similar if you were asked one of these. I could totally see them asking you guys things along the lines of these prompts.
Good luck all!! God speed.
