U.S.A. California

the anticipation is killing me!! after working hard for 2 years i finally completed my application to national university for their accelerated bsn program. i took the teas 5 just over a week ago and am expecting my acceptance/rejection letter during the first week of june. even though it is just 3 weeks away, it seems like a lifetime! if i am accepted i will be joining the october 2011 cohort. anyone else going to nu during this time?

Your lucky to be so close to the RB campus. I am in La Mesa, so not too far but still a commute if I get in. When did you email Margie? I have a feeling you aren't the only one trying to get information from her. Maybe ill try emailing her tomorrow, if I hear anything I will let you know.

I e-mailed her a few days after I took the TEAS. I thought I was one of the last groups to take it, so I figured she's have a good idea. Yeah please let me know if you hear anything!!

Good Luck Everyone! :nurse:I am applying for Cohort 30 next month! Curious to know your grades, anyone? I don't think it's fair that people can transfer in an A (90-100%) from community colleges, while at National you have to get a 96% to earn an A. Needless to say, I am worried about that being that I have a number of A- that are good grades, but may be beat out by the competition for CC grades. hmmmm...

Hi kadeboy8,

I believe it is the same at Grossmont college, but dont quote me on that. Although I have mostly A's I did recieve one B+.

I think when a program is using the point system there is always something that gives advantages to one and not the other. For instance at Grossmont CC they dont seperate A&P lecture and lab grades, So although I recieved an A in lab I recieved a B in lecture which gave me B+ as an overall grade. this gives me less of an advantage for sure.

I e-mailed her a few days after I took the TEAS. I thought I was one of the last groups to take it, so I figured she's have a good idea. Yeah please let me know if you hear anything!!

I have not heard anything back from Margie. THis is going to be a very long weekend for sure. OH WELL, I guess at least I can give my computer a much needed break.:p

Hey all, I guess I didn't realize that about the transferred grades. I took all my classes through National. I have 2 A-s and all the rest are As.

Haha right! I'm hoping to know by the end of the week!!

Well Zeto those are great grades and congratulations! You are right about the advantages and disadvantages. For example, a B+ at National is a 3.3 as far as grade points are concerned. Also, You have to look at the labs counting as 1.5 credits vs. lecture counted as 4.5. Obviously, the lecture grade weighs heavily in comparison. I came close to the 96% but ended up with A- for all classes, and a B+ (89.16%) for a lab. I have a 96% in Micro right now, so I hope to get a solid "A" which will round out my average to 3.7 ish. I am proud of my grades, but when you are competing for such career in demand, you come down on yourself!:D

I totally agree, I worked very hard for the grades I got (two kids, full time job, yada yada) and was so proud......until I started applying to schools. I have already been denied from Grossmont and now I am waiting for National. I struggle to keep positive.

Hey everyone =) Nice to meet you all, my anxiety is a little less intense knowing that I have others who are waiting with me lol. I took the TEAS exam in the beginning of May, they gave statistics at the end of the test on the National and program averages. The National average for the U.S was only 63% and our program average for NU was only at 68%! That makes me feel better about my score. Like most of you I studied my butt off for that test and was so worried about not being able to get an A on it. After knowing the averages I felt much better.

My guess is that they only people that you will talk to regarding the scores are those who are willing to disclose their scores (the ones who scored 70+, everyone else who scored lower isn't talking about it, or they are likely lying to spare embarrassment). If you scored over the average for the program (68%) then you have "very good chances, as long as you are a decent writer and have a GPA of 3.0 or above" this was a (somewhat) direct quote from the instructor for the NU nursing program who administered my TEAS test.

Thanks for the heads up on the student portal status check ;) I hope to see you all in October.

What is everyone's real name? Mine is Kitty

Hi Kitty, thanks for starting this thread. It is nice to "talk" to others who understand just how stressful this process is. My family and friends are supportive, but it is not quite the same. Being the first cohort to require the teas v is putting a different spin on things. Hopefully it will work in our favor, I guess we will know soon (but not soon enough!). Good luck too you!!

P.S. It is probably paranoid thinking, but I would rather not reveal my name here in case I say something stupid. You never know who is watching:sofahider. But hopefully soon we will be classmates and we will have 22 long months to get to know everyone!!

Lol, zeto. Fair enough. I was told be the administrator of the test that letters would be mailed out 1st week of june... ONE MORE WEEK!
