National University BSN April 2014 Cohort

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone!

I just recently applied to nursing cohort 38 starting next April in San Diego. I'm currently waiting for my teas and essay date. I'm so anxious to find out if I've been accepted or not but I've been told we probably won't find out until January or February! Is there anyone who is in the same boat as me? Hope to receive some replies on here! :)

@ Dustin..I have heard that some universities are looking toward PAX (?) in replacement of TEAS. Has anyone else heard of this too?

@tahiti ... sorry i just saw your post. im not sure if that is happening because when you think about it the teas is pretty standard amongst many SON's. Where did you hear this from?

However, i was talking about the ati tests alongside each course. SDSU had did away with that portion because it was very faulty, and praying to ZEUS that it doesnt do that to us. if so it needs to be done away with, but the ati teas test is still in place at SDSU.

Hope that helped?

Hello everyone! Can anyone tell me their experience with the essay test? What were some of the questions? Was it hard? Do you remember your scores?

Im applying for Cohort 40 and I am so nervous about the essay portion. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Im thinking of applying to national, what was your opinion on the school, ive been reading mixed reviews, i want to apply to the LA campus. Has anyone graduated from national and gone to get their masters, did you have any problems getting to other schools??

Hello everyone!

I am scheduled to take the TEAS and proctored essay exam this coming August 27th...can anyone please tell me what prompt question you guys got for your proctored essay? I'm just really stressing out on the essay since I have no idea what they will ask me to write about. Any info will be great! Thanks in advanced!

Hello SDgirl2013

Hi, I am graduating from National in LA this month. The prompts change every time. Mine was something along the lines of besides caring why do you want to be a nurse. What they really care about is 1) your ability to write (grammar, sentences, flow, etc). 2) can you follow directions - FOLLOW the prompt. Don't try to make it something that it isn't. If it asks you about why you want to be a nurse (besides caring) talk about the real reason you want to be a nurse. I wouldn't use it as a chance to grandstand or boast about your qualifications if that makes sense.

@BeesMama Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. I'm just so stressed out about the essay because I usually need a good couple of hours to write a good essay. Ive never really done anything on the spot and have 60 mins to write.

Hello everyone, I am currently finishing my pre reqs at Miramar College. So far by the end of spring 2016, I will finish All the sciences, psych 101, socio, english 101 and 205, library science 101, health. I was wondering what other classes I still need to take at national? for example I need to take the Biomed stats? and is national university more competitive than cal state or sdsu?

Hi I was wondering if you can answer my question.. After finishing all the sciences, do I need to take general education such as humanities before applying to the nursing program? and do you know if national university is more competitive than sdsu or san marcos? thank you.

Hello @daryllegaspi

yes, u do need to take the biomed stats as well as human anatomy, physiology, and microbio if u havent taken them yet. U would also need to take the info literacy class/library science before u can apply for nursing. U can also test out of if at NU. Hope this helps.
