National Board for Certification of School Nurses

Published

Has any one completed this or thought about becoming certified? :bookworm:

Thank you in advance!!

I have the review book, will try to take the exam within the next year. I don't think it'd affect my pay either, but it's just something I want to do personally. It seems like it'd be good on a resume, too.

I agree, it would look nice on the resume.

Specializes in school nurse.

In my state, if you meet certain criteria, you get an initial school nurse license good for 5 years. If you want to continue on in school nursing after that, you have to either have gotten a master's degree or gotten nationally certified.

$20,000 (or more) for grad school vs. $300 ish for the test (with LOTS of studying)- guess which one won?

Specializes in Currently: Certified School Nurse.
I had to get certified to work in NJ (public). It was rigorous so I don't think I'll be pursuing national cert unless I move.

What did you have to do in NJ and where did you go? Any details would be greatly appreciated! I am in nj and thinking of going for certification! Thank you so much!
