Hello, I am wondering if there is anyone here that is applying to Nassau for Fall 2016. I have applied and I'm scheduled to take my TEAS exam on 3/18. I do not have all of my pre-requisites which I understand gives me a better chance of being admitted. I plan to take classes this summer and will take the rest in the Fall if I'm not admitted. I would just like to know thoughts on getting into this program. Also, if there is anyone currently in the program please share your thoughts on how things are going for you. Thanks!
I scored pretty well in everything but the Science section. (98-Reading, 94-Math, 52-Science and 79-English) I hope I did enough and rack up enough points to get accepted. Will anyone that receives acceptance or rejections please post on this site so we can all know when we should be hearing????? The waiting is probably worse than anything else.
I too have applied for Fall of 2016. The wait is going to kill me... I wish everyone the best. I only have Medical Micro to take and that I will do over the summer so I hope that will help to get me in... I scored an 80 on the TEAS (without the science, 71.8 with science). The only thing that I think is really going to hurt is the C+ I got in Anatomy II . I applied for Daytime, does anyone know how many seats are available this semester in the day and night?
Hi, I took my TEAS test on Friday as well. I am not too confident that i will be admitted to the program honestly. I realize that although the pre-reqs are not required they are highly encouraged and there are a few that I need to take. I found out on Friday that if I am not accepted into the program I would have to pay out of pocket if I wanted to take some of the pre-reqs because I would not be able to get financial aid since technically I would not be in a degree program. I am disappointed as I really wanted to begin this program. I know I haven't been rejected yet but everyone else did so well and have high GPAs I don't think I have a chance. Either way, I'm wishing you all luck :-)
You can enroll under individual studies to get aid and loans......
All I know is that all the pre nursing classes I needed are also included in the individual studies degree.....but it wasn't at Nassau sorry... Check your classes and the classes for I.S. Degree.... Should match pretty closely
Thanks again for your reply. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Nassau has that particular degree. I will look into some of the other area schools.
Hi all! I applied to NCC's nursing program for fall 2016 and have been looking for a thread so I am glad I found one. I have a 3.4 GPA and have most of my pre-reqs complete and scored proficient on my TEAS. I am worried about not getting a seat in the program for the fall as this program is SO competitive. Just a tip: on other threads that I have read for this program, apparently your program status could change to nursing student on your banner before you even get an acceptance letter..can anyone back that up? Wishing everyone luck!!
I went yesterday, I asked specifics on how the scoring goes. This is what I was told.... 5 pts for Nassau resident. pts for each class co req class taken. example... 3 credit class , if you get an A in it, an "A" =4 quality pts, times that by 3 (the number of credit class) = 12 pts. do that for each co req class you have taken. As far as the TEAS goes, the number grade does not matter, what does matter is what class you scored in for English, Reading, and Math only. You get 5 pts for Proficient, 10 pts for Advanced, and 15 pts for Exemplary. GPA is used to make sure you have over the 3.0 required. they add up all the pts and put in computer and it puts out a list in order from high to low and that is how it is done. there are 72 seats for the day session and 24 for the evening. Hope that helped you, I know it helped me. Good luck to you!!
