Nassau Community College : Anyone Applying for Spring 2011

U.S.A. New York

Published

Looking for anyone who is applying to NCC for Spring / January start ( or anyone else on the road to applying) who wants others in the same situation to go through the process with.

New pass rate percentages for NCC:

April 2010 – March 2011 NCC 90% NYS 84% Similar Programs 86% National 87%

April 2011 – September 2011 NCC 92% NYS 84% Similar Programs 87% National 88%

Congratulations to all NCC grads who passed! You guys make the program look good.

Just went back through the thread from the beginning and it appears everyone is tentatively accepted at first. That makes me feel a lot better. So excited again!!! Can't wait to go to the interview and find out I'm officially accepted.

When is the deadline date for submitting application. The website is not too general with helpful information. Can anyone tell me NCC application deadline date (I'm looking forward in applying next year)? Do they admit students once or twice a year? Also, do they require any entrance exams such as the TEAS, NLN or HESI 2A? Thanks.

I am sorry for posting here but I cant seem to find information about the NCC Respiratory Therapy program. I applied right before the deadline last week. For anyone who knows- How competitive is it to get into? The course requirements are basically just high school Chemistry and Math but I do have college courses. My grades for co-requisites to this program are:

A's- A&P 1 and 2, and Micro

A in Math

B+ in English Comp

C+ in General Chem. The website says you need a 2.5 GPA and a C or better in everything but I know that is all relative in these programs, depending on the number of applicants.

I'm worried and hopeful! I am wondering if any of you Nassau Nursing students can give me any insight. Thanks so much and best of luck to everyone!! Fingers crossed for all of you applicants!:specs:

Hello everyone,

I have browsed through the forum for about a year and a half now; I have to say, I have learned alot about NCC's program! I do have one question though, since I cannot make any of the nursing info sessions.

For those of you in the evening program, can you give me an idea as to when your day starts and ends? Are your clinicals at night as well? I have a VERY strict work schedule; 7 days a week, 5am-11:30am, sometimes 12pm. My employer makes mountains out of molehills if I even ask to get off an hour early; stars forbid if I ask for a day off!

I am in my first semester and have 3 of my prerequisites out of the way already. Can I also ask, what are the corequisites for the program? I have not found any information as to to what they are specifically. So far, I have an A in every class! Full time work and full time school, I feel like superwoman at the moment!

As far as immunizations and physicals go, can you get your physical anywhere? My job provides me with free physicals, so this would work perfectly! Do they require any extra immunizations besides the ones you needed to provide to get into NCC? (MMR, etc)

I plan on applying in 2013! Are there evening classes starting in Spring, or are they only available in the Fall? By the way, I am a non traditional student; 24 years old with a GED and SAT scores, freshman in college!

I forgot to tell you guys that 2 days before the fall program started in 2011, I was contacted and told that I had a spot in the program. I declined, because I was on vacation in FL. We know where my priorities lie. I don't regret my decision. I ended up staying in FL for 7 months and volunteered for a soup kitchen twice a month and worked part-time, making decent money and living the Vida Loca.

Anyone get accepted into the Fall 2012 class yet?

I just received my letter today! I was accepted!

Congrats on getting accepted!!!!!! I am actually graduating from the program in 3 weeks. I honestly loved it. Any rumors you have heard about how hard the program is, the nursing teachers eat their young and all that stuff....it isn't that bad at all. Yes the program itself is hard....but definately do-able. Every teacher I have had every semester has been nice, suppostive, and really helped me every step of the way. Good luck to you all!

THANK YOU!

^^^ I have heard mostly horrible things about the program, like how hard it is, and that many, almost half, of the nursing students get kicked out. I have two friends that will be graduating the program next month (fingers crossed, cause they are not doing to well this semester). These women are 40+ with kids. When I told them that I got into the program they both congratulated me and then they said that they did not want me to do the program there. The reason is because it is too hard/much... lols.

And then I have another friend who got into the program with a C+ average and she says the program is not that bad at all and that you just need to stay on top of your material to do well.

Do you have any tips for me on how to successfully complete the program?

I received a letter saying I was tentitively accepted and have an interview on the 22nd of May. Is there anyone else that was accepted

Congrats kitkats4breakfs, when do you have the interview. Do you know anything about the interview process?
