Looking for anyone who is applying to NCC for Spring / January start ( or anyone else on the road to applying) who wants others in the same situation to go through the process with.
Hi everyone, congratulations to all who were accepted. I unfortunately did not get in. I called the dept. to find out exactly why, because I have mostly A's and B's , A's in all prerequisites. She said my name is on the list, but they hav'nt gotten to me yet. I thought Nassau did not have a waiting list, I did not want to question her too much. Does anyone know if seats open up if they reconsider those denied?, and if so when does that happen. Thank you!
Thank you Tranzfikst for your reply. I know I read on an older post that sometimes people who get rejected get accepted later on, but I can't seem to get into those old posts. I wish you lots of luck, and I hope you get good news! This was my 2nd attempt, and I'm an older student, so I don't know if I will try again. I have to rethink my options.
To everyone who gets accepted... good luck. Nassau puts their nursing students through hell. I have heard from a hand full of NCC's nursing students students that half their class is gone, mostly from being kicked out. The school has 5 nursing classes all together. 1 class did not survive (they were all kicked out) and the remaining four classes have half of it's students left... I don't know exactly why they do this, but I think the nursing school wants the best NCLEX pass rate they can get, by kicking out students that can't pass test or keep up they will have a better chance at receiving 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. That's the only reason I can see them kicking more than half of their originals out.
^^^ sounds unbelievable and over exaderagted, I know, but I'm not joking and I am not stretching the truth.
NCC's nursing program is no joke! Some of you guys might as well go to a private school or another public institution to get you BSN. Just saying.
There is no "real" test. If you got a letter to go for an interview you have been accepted. On that day you'll receive your schedule and clinical site. Good luck. I'm just finishing 101 now and we have lost about 1/4 of our admitted class. Its not because people weren't smart or committed it simpky comes down to the fact that they failed the tests. Your entire 101 grade will come from 5 test. The first one is worth 4% the second, third, and foruth are worth 22% and the final is worth 30%. The tests are very different than what one might expect. You can spend hours studying all the chapters for the test and feel like you never see one question related to anything you've studied. Supposedly next semster 105 is worse, however I believe the attrition rate isn't as bad. In 101 all classes should expect to loose at least 5 to 10 students out of 21ish. Sounds hyped up, but I just watched it happen and we'll probably lose more people after out final next Tuesday.

To kuklara511: What kind of test questions do they ask at the interview? I'm extremely extremely nervous for the interview especially for the tests. I hate taking tests I don't know what to prepare for. How long does the whole testing/interview take. Did you start right when u got there or did they make u wait for a while? Were the critical thinking questions nursing questions? I would GREATLY appreciate it if you provided a detailed response. I'm awaiting an interview in may at 9am. Thank You!!
