Nassau Community College : Anyone Applying for Spring 2011

Published

Looking for anyone who is applying to NCC for Spring / January start ( or anyone else on the road to applying) who wants others in the same situation to go through the process with.

dogmom67 i saw you today again. I was in your room for the workshops. I was late and nervous. I will say hi on tuesday. i think we have the same hospital and possibly the same hospital day.

what did everyone write about in autobiography? I have to do that tomorrow.

so exciting that we start next week.

Hi all. I was wondering if someone can ans this question... Since I am taking all the pre-req's now, will I still be able to apply in March for Sept admission? The deadline is in March but classes don't end until May!

unfortunately i ran into the same problem. you have to have completed ap 1, psy 203, english 101 and statistics i think mat 203 before you apply. i took all mine fall 2009 and could have applied the soonest at march 2010, but was overwhelmed and wanted to increase my gpa, so i took more classes and applied october 2010.

Hey,

Which prerequisites do you need to take at NCC?

Chemistry,

Microbiology,

Anatomy & Physiology?

Are those basically the three you need?

You need 4 courses - ENG 101, MAT 102, PSY 203, & AHS 131 in order to apply for the nursing program. It's recommended that the pre & co requisites also be done before you start the nursing program. I heard the workload is very tough if you take another course besides nursing in the same semester.

Hi Jerrysgirl! Please do introduce yourself on Tues. Looks like we have a pretty good class. And everyone seems friendly. I enjoyed the orientation and do feel like I got something out of it. The few professors I met seem great, and really willing to help, too. My autobiography - lol - I re wrote a few times already and will write up again. It's hard to squeeze years of experience in 2 pages without it looking like an impersonal resume.

See you on Tuesday!

i was a little off with my numbers of the course numbers. these are the right ones.

I could be wrong but most of the people I talked to in my class already have all the pre-reqs and co-reqs done. all we have left to do are the nursing classes. i talked to a lot of people who have bachelors and some masters in another subject.

I will definitely say hi!

Is everyone where socks (is it mens tube socks or crew socks) or pantyhose/stockings for women? Can women wear socks?

Is everyone double spacing their autobiographies?

Wow - LOL !!

I Hope we can wear Socks. I will knock myself unconsious trying to put on tights! And as a bartender, being on my feet - I would perfer a good pair of socks over support hose anyday. My legs never hurt, but my feet start to burn if I wear bad socks. ( also, a day on the feet in hose? Pew!! ) but we will do what we must.

Autobiography - I did not double space and still went slightly over 2 pages. I am still torn as to whether I should just pick a year or 2 of life and run with that. I may be a bit older than some of you, and it's hard to cram my adult life in 2 pages without double spacing. I should have asked at orientation if I could have an extra "older student" page. ha ha.

Hey everyone...only a few more days! I just finished 101 and am starting 105 on TUesday.

The professor I had this semester let us wear socks but they could not be ankle socks they have to be above the ankle.

IN regards to the autobiography it dosnt matter if it is single or double spaced. They just want to "get to know you" and know alittle bit about your lifestyle and why you chose nursing.

Good luck everyone on TUesday! THe first skills you will learn in your first week is how to "properly" wash your hands and put on and take off gloves

Kuklara, Thank you again. You are and have been a lifesaver and a calming voice of reason all along. Just the fact that you chime in to this thread, one semester AFTER you have gone through all of this shows your kindness and compassion. You will be a great nurse! Thank you again.

also, do you or does anyone know which books we need to physically bring to class the first day?
