Hi all,
Pretty much every one of us uses a tool/product of some kind that we can't function without. So what's yours?
For me, it's my trusty Neofax and Care of the Sick Neonate......

This is an interesting thread. Wow Prmnrs, you used to use karo syrup?? My daughter (680g) was in a study for the fructose solution they use now (Sweet Ease). She is now 12. That giraffe bed is way cool too...I don't know much about it (I am a student on rotation in NICU) and our unit only has a few and they seem to be used by the real tiny babes. The top coming off seems super useful.

Yup. Karo syrup! The dark kind was great when they needed help pooping.
Then they found Botulinum spores in honey, and ?? in Karo as well. So, no more Karo!
Remember, we're talking about the early 70's here. (OK, so I'm old) We were amazingly inventive w/kids who had problems digesting formula. Once we even got an airline to bring us fresh poi to try on a baby! We were desparate @ the time. I don't think it worked.
Rocking Cribs im not sure of the correct name for them but we have two of them, that we have used in the past for chonic BPD babies that are almost ready to go home. They have a wooden base and have a swaying motion in three speeds with sides that come down like a warmer bed. I know they are very expensive to keep up and purchase but on those desperate time we have used them. I also agree with the vapotherm we used to us it a lot until it was recalled wish we could get it back. I also love tootsweet.

"the only good chronic is a drugged chronic" We used to give them wine (among other things)! Anything to keep them calm. Even w/pharmecuetical assistance, they were miserable 90+% of the time. What a nightmare.
