i know for a fact that st francis only hire BSN. 2 of my classmates that work there and just graduated were not retained because they have an associate
That is so unbelievable about St. Francis. I know of several of my classmates that graduated with me 2 years ago that work at St. Francis and they only have ASN's. I guess they can afford to be picky now. It also saves them from paying tuition for those that want to go back for their BSN.
Wow...times are changin'!

when i first came to nyc, the starting pay for rns seemed to range
from 70-85k to. now that the economy is suffering, it's a good time
for the corps. to start making excuses to lower that. i mean, because
they are making how much off of their medical employees?
(yeah i know- millions).:spbox:
for those of you who are down about making $18-25/hr in some other state,
just remember that nyc is very expensive...so it's only fair for rns to start
off at 70-85k (or now it's more like 60k). if you do a pay to cost of living comparison,
you will find out that some places, you're living a lot more luxuriously than we
are in nyc, because of your pay to cost of living ratio. you're actually making out
better in a lot of cases, believe it or not

here is an awesome link: http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costofliving/costofliving.html
it converts what your salary is worth in
other states and gives you other cool figures.
i have found it practically precise/accurate..
being that i have lived/experienced many
different states in the last few years.

I work at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, part of UHSH health system. I started in the ICU as a GN making 22.03/hr with 4/hr night diff. General Hospital (the other hosptial in the UHSH family) is the same. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is the other one in the area and I could tell you the wage scale there, but it is comparable.

I have an ADN and I was hired last year when I graduated. I heard from my manager that there is a freeze and they are not hiring new nurses. They want 6 months of experience and they prefer a BSN of course.
Hey Kimposbl,I was just wondering are they hiring students with BA or Associates or both

Could you please tell me if NYP is hiring right now? I would greatly appreciate your response. I work out a hospital on long island and I need to relocate of my family situation.
I interviewed at St. Vincents. I am going to Beth Israeli next week. I heard that NYP offers subsidized housing.
I started working at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell last fall (as a new grad) and am making $36.45/hour. That's including BSN differential and working days. They provide great benefits, tuition reimbursement, a year long nurse orientation program.
Hi I was wondering how is the OR experience? Do you know if they are hiring? I heard they provide subsidized housing. I would greatly appreciate your response. thanks!
I was just hired at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell as a new grad (BSN), working day shifts in the OR @ $36.45/hour (base pay). I can't wait to start!:loveya:

Does anyone from Louisiana frequent these forums? I'm currently a student at McNeese State and will be graduating and looking for a job soon. I've been browsing through the forums for the last couple of weeks and haven't really found anyone posting about us folks down here in the south. Anyone have info on good places to work in LA/TX? I'm right on the LA/TX border.. Just wondering..
Thanks,
Ryan
