  1. Our local hospital requires a 2 yr committment - have you heard of anyone wanting to leave/travel possibly after a year? Would you owe them $$$?
  2. Thanks Stacy!
  3. That is the one thing I do not like about case mgmt. Even if weekend cm staff is needed they still have cm's work mon-fri and then take weekend on call ev 8th week. I prefer 12's - I don't care if they are weekend shifts!
  4. Is this unrealistic several yrs after leaving step down unit for hospital case mgmt? I see some hospitals have 6 month training prigrams for new grads or nurses with no OR exp. It was something I really wanted to do 20 yrs ago, but chose to go with int card care and sorry I did not.
  5. Is there any one coding certification you can get for both physician office/hospital? - like if you wanted to work in insurance/hospital auditing and also, on the side for physician practices.
  6. ORTHO abbreviation STS? anyone? (ie - "Improved STS left leg") Thks!
  7. How about STS? as in improved STS left foot. Thks
  8. Isn't it unbelievable how nurses are being treated recently. It seems like companied are trying to go as low as possible with the pay, and scamming us to see how much work we'll do for free.
  9. They have the blue tranlational phones in US hospitals for non-English speaking patients. They are needing us for our nursing skills. It takes a long time to become fluent/conversational in another language, and I'm sure it would take a lot longer to be able to learn medical terminology in another language - it wouldn't be just basic conversational Japanese. Don't forget dosages, numbers, medications, etc - there's a great chance for error. I think the interpreter, or interpreter phone is safer, more accurate - unless you're a native Japanese speaker.
  10. Wouldn't it be more cost efficient to hire a couple of translators per hospital, and just let the nurses do their thing, with assistance when needed? Duh!
  11. Is the Nurses' Carelink mentionned the same as Nation's CareLink?
  12. I've done work for chcs over the years, and there is not enough work in my area - do the other organizations have more work/assessments?
  13. Not really off-topic, but look at the incident with flight attendant, Steven Slater this week. A passenger cutting his forehead, and not even apologizing. They deal with similar scenarios/abuse.
  14. Hi - I'm in Phila area, and would like to know name of co., and if work is still avail..Thanks!
  15. By the way - what I meant by "eyeball flirting" was continuous eye contact w/my eyes for 15+ minutes, whether talking, listening, laughing or silent.
