Anyone got any recommendations on a really good net prep? I am just concerned since it has been almost 17 yrs since I had a math class. I am looking for the best most efficient way to review.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

i would definitely get the net study guide. if you need help specifically in math (i did). try- princeton review math smart. it helped me. also,

no fear math / all the basics. i had been out of school 30 yrs. so i really needed to review.

i found these on the forum hope they help you and good luck to you!!

hey crimson!!!

have you taken the net yet? like vina posted above, the hfcclab website is the best one that i have found to practice with. at tjc, the test questions are just like the practice questions that the website gives you. i bought the study guide for $30 bucks, and after visiting this site, i had basically wasted my money!!! i have the book if you want me to get it to you. i definitely wouldn't spend the money on it!! the net math is a breeze, just study up on ratios and percentages. the reading is pretty basic also, but for some reason more people tend to score lower. it is a science comprehension reading test, so it is a little more difficult, but still very passable. check your email, i will send you some more info on it!!!

...i've been studying the Barron's version, this is SO MUCH EASIER.

Hey apnea,

I have to agree with you from seeing your post about Barron's. Bull= snake?!? Whatever! Whoever wrote that one needs to go back to school themselves!! Good luck with it, though. I don't see how anyone could get through that one, if the questions are all like that!! :uhoh3:

i aced the math and science sections. As in, got all of them right. And i got probably about 75% of the verbal ones. i'm pretty sure i got the crappiest study ever, because the real NET isn't anything like that.

You had science questions on the NET?! My book doesn't include any science and my school says there isn't any on it, but you aren't the first person I have seen say they had science questions on their test. Can you elaborate as to how many and what book you used to study for it?! Thanks!!

I did take the NLN and that had an extensive science section on the test, but the NET appears to be very basic compared to that.

hey apnea,

way to go on acing the math and science. i too was like that, although i did miss 3 on the math and 3 on the science. the reading , on the other hand...my best subject...is where i missed the most. i still passed in the 80's, but was shocked at how i did, since my college entrance exam scores were so high in that area.

as far as your study guide, yeah, i would have to say it must be pretty crappy if that is all it had. i do remember a couple of questions like that on the net, but, it was in the testtaking skills portion, and that was it. that testtaking portion was the pits also!!! overall though, it wasn't bad.

the website that vino posted above, http://hfcclab.info/net/index.htm is the best that i have seen that seems to be just like the actual test.

batman,

yes, the net does have science on it! the first time i took the test (had to retake as my school had the wrong version) i missed every science question on there but 1. i too, was so surprised they were on there, but the net guide mentioned nothing about science (at least from what i can remember!!) there are anatomy and physiology, biology, cellular biology, and chemistry questions that you will have to answer, plus a testtaking skills section. there aren't many, except for the testtaking skills, but it is nice to know beforehand that they are there!!! i did so much better the second time around, knowing that they were there!! all except for testtaking!!! that one i still made above the north american average, but it was low!!! :uhoh3:

NO NO, sorry...i meant my study guide. i bought the Barron's one because i'm really making some awesome headway with the MCAT version, i figured it would help a little. It's a pretty crap book for what i need, though, it's nothing at all like the NET (which i'm planning to take sometime this week when i find a few extra minutes :uhoh3:)

yeah, i think you're the one that posted that link a bit earlier...i've since sold my barron's book on amazon ;) i'm worried about the "personal" sections of the net though, i have to get into the program this spring, i really can't afford to let the adcoms know that i'm a complete headcase :uhoh21: i did really well on the sections offered on that site, what are the other areas like?
