My turn to share--I beat NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello AN,

I found out that I passed my NCLEX this week, I got 75 questions. I used this site (like most of us) to get clues, confidence, past experiences, and what not on how to tackle and pass NCLEX. I am so thankful for all those who posted who they passed and what worked for them because this guided me in my studies.

I mainly used Kaplan to study, I did all the question trainers and about 700 of the Qbank questions, I wanted to do more but ran out of time. After every test, I reviewed the rationales and wrote notes on things that were new or things that i got right but for the wrong reason, although I read every single rationale. I didn't like Kaplan's content as much so I watched the Hurst videos (one time) and I obtained most of my content from that. I also used Saunders 5th ed (yellow book) to read on some things and I actually ended up using this a lot as well, especially to write notes regarding my rationales.

When I took NCLEX, I was nervous but I felt good throughout the test. I remember what XNavyCorpsMan (I hope that's right, sorry) said about NCLEX not being a difficult test, you just have to think about the answers. And he was right, I really did not think that NCLEX was super hard, especially after doing so many questions from Kaplan which were super hard to me. I also used LaCharity and Lippincott alternate format questions. I got a lot of priority questions and LaCharity book was awesome for that, and their rationales were good. I left the testing center feeling confident, but then felt guilty about feeling confident (weird huh?) and started thinking that I must have done horrible to fail at 75.

The wait for quick results was the worst part, especially because my results were on hold so the PVT wasn't telling me anything. It was torture, I had to wait four days to get QR (as I tested on a Friday afternoon) but I surely passed.

My advice to everyone getting ready to take NCLEX is to do practice questions, read the rationales because this is reviewing content, and be confident that you will pass. I also prayed a lot, and I prayed for almost every single question on my test. And I do believe that God helped me. Also, don't rush through the test, you want to finish and only take the test once. There is no point in rushing. I was always a fast test taker, but I was not playing around with this test

Lastly, thank you for reading and thank you to all of those who posted their stories too, which in a way helped me pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congratz

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I studied for about 1 month, everyday including weekends. I didn't study as hard the last week

"Beat" was a way to put it, because if I would've failed I would have felt defeated. I also bought the book, PDF version, therefore is mine now and its a great book so I want to share it. Thanks :)

I'm pretty sure that's illegal as it's equivalent to making copies, but go for it if you want to. I was only giving you a heads up. As a nurse, you need to act ethically in all matters.

Edit: yup. Look at the copyright info of your ebook. It says: "Copyright © 2011, 2006 by Mosby, Inc., an affiliate of Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. Congratulations on your success and winning this battle.

Exactly. People BEAT cancer. OP, and the rest of us nurses, passed the standard test that decides if we should be granted a license or not. Nothing heroic!!

Congrats but you didn't "beat" the test. You studied and had a good education.

On another note, I'm not sure offering to share copyrighted material is a smart idea. Unless the ebook is free.

Congratulations on passing. I told you, the test is NOT hard. Did you find that when you looked at the question and answers it was easy to eliminate the wrong ones? Even if you don't know what they are asking, you can sort of figure it out from the answers. I am really happy for you. I think too many people get stressed out over this test and don't take their time with each question. It is not a hard test. It only tests your minimal knowledge to care for patients safely.

take your time with each question and when you have your answer.....ask yourself if your answer "makes sense". I found this helped me. Do NOT rush through this test. You have plenty of time.

My wife can't read this so I can tell the truth.....she bought me 3 NCLEX question books because my intention was to do 5,000 questions before the test. To be honest, I did maybe 50 questions. I always had my books opened to another page every time she came into the room. I just couldn't do that many questions. What made be confident is the fact that I went to a very good Nursing school and felt confident that they gave me what I needed to know for the test. I took my time with each questions and then asked myself if the answer I picked made sense. I did very well and I such at taking tests.
