My situtation (adn vs. bsn)

Published

I know there are PLENTY threads on this subject. I can't seem to find ANY of them! If someone could direct me to it or just get your advice here on what you think about it.

Here's my situation:

If I go to an ADN program they have 99% pass rate and of course WAY cheaper.

If I do the BSN program i'll being going to a religious university which I want so i'll be gaining more education on religion however, it is way more expensive and the pass rate is around the 80's. I'm not sure what to do.

In the end I plan on going for my master's, so i'm not sure what road to take. Thank you for your help and advice!!!

If you go the ADN route just make sure the facilities you want to work for aren't going to prefer BSN by the time you graduate. I skimmed the thread and I don't know if this angle has been mentioned.

IMO go for your BSN but start out by taking your gen ed and prerequisite courses at a community college and then transfer to a four year school for your BSN. My reasoning is that it gives you time to make sure nursing is the direction you want to go while not forking out private school tuition.

If someone else is paying I say go for the BSN.

I did not mean to offend anyone by what I said. I am sorry that I seemed to do that with you. We all work hard in the school work that we do no matter what degree we choose.

I did mention that i was just repeating what I was told. I did not pretend to know that it was accurate but it just made sense to me.

I understand it just was a strong statement to say so it did offend me. I love my BSN program, but I don't think because I'm obtaining a higher degree that I'm better then any ADN. We all will be nurses either way :) My aunt is smarter then anyone I know and is a ASN nurse and helps me all the time so I guess I just wish that people wouldn't try to put each other down. Anyhow it's finals week and I'm on high stress right now, so sorry if I got a bit unhinged..:heartbeat

I doubt she was putting anyone down. When you are looking to apply to nursing schools you naturally look into them and try to make the best choice for you. There are going to be better schools than others. It does not have anything to do with if its a BSN or ASN program because it all just has to do with each particular school and where you live. All you can do is go off information you can find about the schools.. it may or may not be accurate but you just make the best choice you can for youself and your own situation. The OP asked for advice and we are all trying to give her the best we can.

GL with your finals!:redbeathe
