If anyone would like to comment on my resume, I would appreciate constructive criticism.

I would take your work place and location off of here for your own privacy & safety

I don't think as LPN's we are allowed to diagnose anything either. We can report our findings to the MD so he can diagnose. I would say " observed and monitored changes in residents and reported to doctor as needed " or something to that effect.

This "Diagnosed blood clots, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, stokes, heart attacks, arthritis, gout, kidney failure, respiratory distress, dementia, urinary tract infections, anxiety and depression" is a problem. Only MDs, APNs, DOs can diagnose. RNs & LPNs cannot make medical diagnoses. Nursing diagnosis r/t nursing care plan formulation yes. But 'blood clot' is a diagnostic condition that cannot be determined by a nurse.

Also most recent employment always goes first.

Above are valid critiques. From a purely grammatical standpoint, you should spell check. I noticed a couple of simple errors that may make the slightest difference/first impression. Also, I would humbly suggest "upgrading" some of your terminology to sound more scholarly. For example, instead of "started IV lines" how about something like "initiated IV access" or "took care of" to "cared for" ... "taught" to "provided teaching" etc... small changes like these make your resume seem much fancier, if you will, and show the reader that you express yourself very well.

Good luck!

Thank you all for responding. I took out the segment about diagnosing. I will make the other changes.

To replace the word Diagnose, I put "Developed care plans for clients dealing with blood clots, atrial fibrillation, stroke, heart attack, arthritis, kidney failure, respiratory distress, dementia, urinary tract infection, gout, anxiety and depression.

If anyone thinks I should be more specific than this please let me know. I would greatly appreciate the input.

Are you an LPN? Then it should be "assisted in the development of appropriate nursing care plans for patients/clients with various medical diagnoses including dementia...." as in most states only RNs can develop care plans but LPN s can assist.

Spell check won't help with the their there and they're errors. Always have someone else read your resume' before you send it out.

Hello fellow nurses and friends. Would you mind critiquing my resume. I would like some feedback as I would like to apply for a pediatric position in a doctors office. I have worked in home health with 4 sick medically fragile children. Besides that I diagnosed a rash in one of my patients siblings before they took her to see a doctor. It was fifths disease. They returned with an antibiotic. I know your not supposed to diagnose but I knew what that was. Below is my resume.

Cared for medically fragile children and their families. Encouraged families to seek medical treatment when their was a change in health status. Taught families about the drugs being given or how to do a skill. Daily assessment of lung sounds, bowel sounds, and neurological status, skin assessment. Collected patient histories when clients were admitted. Set up appointments for doctor office visits and lab draws. Implemented care and treatment based on resident status. Educated clients and their families about their health status. Made positive changes based on assessment data for clients. Assisted in the development of appropriate nursing care plans for clients with various medical diagnoses including dementia. Performed dressing changes, fall risk assessment, enteral tube feedings, range of motion exercises, indwelling catheter care, respiratory therapy, ostomy care, tracheotomy care, management of stable ventilators, medication administration, and activities of daily living. I have helped clients apply adaptive equipment and documented all care provided.
