My NCLEX-RN Story

Published

Hello All,

The Day Before the Exam

I took NCLEX-RN this past Friday 6/20/08 in Atlantic City (A.C.) at 8am. The night before the exam my friend and I practiced questions on Kaplan's QBank/Question Trainer and Saunders Q&A 3rd Ed.. I earned average of 60-63% on each section that I created on QBank and 80% on Saunders questions.

At around 8pm we started doing the medication questions on the Saunders Cd-Rom disc. Thank goodness we did because they were very beneficial.. I was struggling with meds before doing those questions. I mean I knew the classes and some side effects but something wasn't processing before then.

Exam Day

We left the hotel at 7am to try to find some place to sit down and eat breakfast. It was just our luck that everything in the area of Atlantic City that we were in is closed until 730am including the restaurants in the casinos. Our anxiety is increasing now because we have in our mind that we are going to have to take boards on an empty stomach. While walking around still trying to find something to eat we came across a police officer that told us that there was a McDonald's Express in the area, which was actually four blocks from the testing center. So, we got breakfast sandwiches from there and made our way to the testing center, signed in, got finger printed and photographed, and begun our test.

I had lots of select all that apply questions (about 12), math questions (7), place the X on the correct place on the diagram (5), general questions (62). My total questions 86 in 2hours. My friend's total questions 75 in 2 hours.

We had planned to stay in A.C. for the remainder of the weekend, but the anxiety that we had before the test increased because now we wanted to know our results (but had to wait until Sunday)

On Sunday we paid for the online Quick Results ($7.95) and saw the most beautiful :loveya:and uplifting words next to status... PASS :yeah:. Now we are just waiting for Pennsylvania state board to issue our license numbers so we could start our new jobs.

Words of Encouragement

To all of the current nursing graduates of 2008, have confidence and faith in the knowledge you have gained in the past 2 or 4years of schooling, do practice questions, review rationales even when you get the answer correct, and you will do fine.

:up:Good Luck to ALL:up:

Great job to you both. Congrats on your new status!!!!

and...thanks for the feedback. Very beneficial!:clown:

Thank you all.

I forgot to mention that you Will need and WILL have to ask for ear plugs because the constant key strokes of the computer will get on your nerves and make you lose focus.

You can not bring your own ear plugs they have to be ask for and supplied by the testing center.
