My life is over!

Last Friday night I worked 10pm-6am and was called in to work at noon. The weekend manager said it was an emergency that she had to talk with me. I go in and they tell me that a resident told day shift that I had been verbally abusive with her roommate. I comply with the facility totally. State comes in this week for annual survey this week and they interview the roommate and they feel she is uncomfortable with me and according to the DON they told her that they wanted me out of the facility and substantiated the claim of abuse. I am terminated today. The DON told me that in 10 working days State will have decided whether or not this will go on my abuse record and to call her. I never verbally abused anyone, the person I was working with was in the room the whole time and the resident had no specific complaint just that everybody treats her bad which isn't a new complaint. I didn't get to speak to state or adult protective services, the DON told me that she "spoke to them on my behalf". The DON told me that she had fought with them and told them that I was overworked and it was her fault and she said she begged them to keep it off of my record. She said that the State people had my phone number and would be calling me but its a little late now. I have no job, my life goals and aspirations are on the rocks and I feel like someone has kicked me in the ribs.

I have no idea how to get a picture on here.

Yes! I know what you mean :chuckle Just glad to hear you had a good time!

Okay, I'm confused. So Chad, are you in high school, nursing school, or grad school?

Sorry to hear about the dilemma with your job/accusations. Will be sending positive thoughts your way that it all works out... :)

I am finishing freshman year in nursing school. Yeah, almost done and now I'm in limbo on whether or not I will be able to go to finish. I went with the girl I took last year who is a senior.

Chad get an attorney. Fight this thing. Sounds to me like you have witnesses. Don't back down. Fight to the end. Don't let your dreams go.

FISRT OF ALL, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT. AND SECONDLY, I WOULD NOT TRUST THE DON "TALKING FOR YOU", IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. YOU HAVE YOUR OWN VOICE AND SHOULD NO ONE ELSE SAY A WORD FOR YOU! YOUR LIFE IS NOT OVER, AND ALTHOUGH IT IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE YOU NEED TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING IN DETAIL. DO NOT TRUST THE DON JUST BECAUSE. IT IS BETTER FOR YOU TO DO YOUR OWN THINGS AND FIND A BETTER SOLUTION.

GOOD LUCK, AND A NEW DOOR WILL OPEN FOR YOU. THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON AND SOMETIMES CHANGE IS A GOOD THING. JUST KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND BE POSITIVE :)

I went in today to get my last pay check and while I am there the administrator speaks to me and tells me that he is trying to get me reinstated at the facility and all of this bull and that he would let me know if and when I could come back. He leaves for a few minutes and comes back and says that the resident in question has returned to her own home and that he wanted me to come back tonight on a probationary status for 90 days at the same pay. I came home and contacted the CNA registry and they tell me that my certification is good until Dec. 2006 and that I am not on the abuse registry. I still feel funny about going back there. The administrator totally invalidated many of the things that the DON said when she was firing me. I feel super liable at this point and don't know who to trust. Advice please?

If you like everything about the job such as your co-workers, the pay ect.Just not the management I would go back to work . Managers come and go.Hold your head up high and realize management made a mistake and they are aware of the fact.Of course the ball is in your court why not take a couple of days and sleep on it.Best of luck to you! Glad to hear your record is clean as it should be.Keep us posted!

Twinkie(: :)

DO NOT GO BACK THERE! Find another facility. Keep checking to make sure nothing is pending as far as the abuse registry goes. I would also speak to someone at your nursing school to see what you should do if anything is pursued further, and perhaps they can give a lecture on how to act in situations such as this for other nursing students.

I do not understand how you were not cleared by your co-worker of this in the beginning. If the co-worker was afraid to speak up you know this is not the place to be working. As someone said previously -- document, document, document.

Good luck!

If you feel funny about going back there, don't. You were mistreated. Were you already off your probation when this happened? Now they want you to come back, saying it is all over that they are sorry, but putting you back on probation? I would think long and hard before I went back. There is no shortage of jobs, go where you are treated better. And continue to check on your license status. Sometimes these things take time.

How far do you trust these people? The DON does not sound trustworthy. Also sounds like they need a 'warm body' to cover shifts (ie 'come in tonight'). They may also be trying to undo your firing to avoid any legal problems with you...but keep in mind they can keep you under a microscope and 'find' another reason to let you go in time. Do you want this kind of environment? That DON has shown you her true colors; so you should be prepared.

I would only go back if this matter is completely settled NOW...(with the DON and everybody...completely exonerating you...) You had a witness in the room with you at the time the supposed abuse occurred. You should not be on 'probation' for something that never occurred, and accepting probation makes you look guilty of 'something'.

JMHO. Good luck to you whatever you decide to do and be careful.

I am so so confused. The administrator talked to a group of the administrative nurses, one was the former DON and they all told him that they saw no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to come back to work. I would feel better if the DON and administrator were both working together and had both been there. I have many witnesses that were there while we talked. I feel like they are playing mommy against daddy. I agreed to go in tonight and work 11-7 but I am still wary of that place. I would love to call the DON but I hate her and it isn't my place to call her and tell her all of this. So many problems and issues.
