My license is in inactive status

Published

Hello everyone,

I just passed my NCLEX RN (Maryland Board) exam and my license is in inactive status. Can I apply for job in while my license is in inactive status?

Thanks,

Why is your license inactive ? Most job listings require an active, unrestricted nursing license

Call or better yet visit the BON. You can't apply with an inactive license. It seems like a mistake.

You need to call the BON and ask why your new license is inactive...it is probably a computer glitch

Well, MBON sent me a form stating that I need to fill out some forms :Conversion from Inactive/Volunteer to Active form and Supplemental Renewal form with a fee of $53. I am a foreign nurse. Do everybody in Maryland need to go through the same process or its for international nurses or its for me only. I have submitted everything though. I don't know how long it will take. I really need to find job as soon as possible.

Highly appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks.

Perhaps you chose a volunteer license rather than active license when you applied?

You need to complete the form and pay the fee ASAP if you wish to work as a nurse in MD

Did you have an active license in your home country? This is not something everyone in Maryland has to go through.

When I submitted my forms to MBON while applying for NCLEX-RN exam, it was active. In between it got expired and I sent it to my home country to renew it. But, I did not submit that renewed license to MBON again neither they asked me to submit it.

So much confusions. :(

Then it's your inaction that caused this scenario This has nothing to do with being an IEN.

Nurses are responsible to know the expiration date of their license and make arrangements to renew.

You cannot work as a nurse until you reactivate your license and pay all required fees. That's all on you now. MD BoN sent you the forms fill them out and submit with the required fees.

Hi,

I'm just wondering How did you solve this problem? I'm going through the same problem you have. I am license in the state of Vermont and I'm trying to endorse my license here in Maryland but according to MBON, I am only qualified for an inactive license. Please help!

Thank You

you need to renew your license with VT BoN. Without an active license there is nothing endorsed. You are not a licensed nurse if your VT license is expired or inactive. Contact VT to reinstate your license.
