Well, I went to the Dr this afternoon for my "physical function test" for my new job!! I swear I thought I was in boot camp!! First the guy gives me heart monitor to put on, then he tells me to keep my back straight and bend down (squatting) and touch the floor with my fingers. No big deal, then he says good, now give me 20 of those. I just kinda chuckled like...yeah right...and he says, No seriously give me 20. Now for those of you that are physically fit this may not seem like a big deal. BUT I am about 80 pounds overwieght so this was a killer for me!! Escpecially SQUATS!!! OMG!!! SO, as if that wasn't enough I had to do 10 more while lifting 20 pounds, then 10 more while lifting 30 pounds!!!! By this time my legs are numb!!! LOL!!! Then I have to lift a 50 pound bag of laundry onto a wheel chair and back, then push 200 pounds on a cart down the hallway, then push 300 pounds down the hallway then pull it while walking backwards!?!?! It just when on and on I thought I was going to die!! Luckily I passed. I came home and went to walk up the stairs to go to the bathroom and I COULDN"T!!! I literally got stuck half way up the steps cause I couldn't pick my legs up!! My hubby thought this was just hilarious! I'm thinking maybe I should start working out some more. Me and my jelly legs are now going to bed!!!:lol2:

Thanks for giving me a chuckle early in the morning! Did you apply to a military academy, or what was that all about????:)

Apparantely I will be working in a LTC facility where you are often required to do squats while carrying 30 pound baskets while pushing a 300 pound resident in a wheelchair 10 miles an hour down a hallway!! Oh Yeah....and I can't forget doing my med pass and treatments!! LOL!!

A job as an LPN in LTC. Seems like a really nice place but I am begining to wonder what I got myself into!! HA HA!!

If I'd had to go through a test like that for any job I've ever had, I'd still be sitting at home.

I can't believe you had to go through that for a regular nursing job.

And after all that during orientation today they wanted to stress that they have a NO LIFT policy!! Go figure!!
