My friend SWEARS I passed

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi guys,

I know you get these questions all the time, but just remember when you were on here begging for support, or remember you will be soon!!! lol :)........Anyways. Just took my NCLEX-PN, test closed at 85. I know, I know, you can pass or fail. But my friend who just took it says she swears I passed, she has never known anyone whose test shut down at 85 and didn't pass.........and even though it will be unofficial, and I won't know until my results are given to me.........you know how it is :)!!!! Please respond to me......if you have any amazing super inside tips ;), or if you did/didn't pass exactly at 85........

Kisses,

I passed @ 85, however I have heard of ppl failing @ 85 as well. It was wierd..while I was taking the test I was so confident and it didn't seem really bad (compared to the test we took in school). I was actually happy it cut off @ 85 b/c of everything I was told in school about 85 being the "magic number". However I must admit that by the time I reached my car I was in a full panic mode. I second guessed everything I answered. I called my friends who were taking it and those who had taken it the day before. To make matters worse, I was confusing questions with other questions on the test so when I looked up the "answer" it didn't make sense. I think the pressure is that your told that if it cuts off @ 85 questions you either passed with flying colors or failed miserably! You begin to question yourself if your the latter and what ppl will think of you or what you'll think of yourself (scary). My advice to you is to do whatever it is you wanted to do while in school but you were to busy or were too stressed out to do! Now is your time. Pass or fail, you made it thru and you will make it thru this as well. Can u find out your results online? Good luck to you!

The NCLEX adjusts itself to your responses: if you get one wrong, the next one is easier; get one right, the next one is more difficult.

All designed to be sure we are safe, nothing more, that's why the pass fail thing.

They used to say, if you knew you got the last one right, you passed; likewise if you knew you got the last one wrong, you didn't.

I'm not sure it's that cut-and-dried.

But you passed nursing school, you know the feeling of doing well, versus the uh-oh feeling. That should be your main indicator.

Besides you can find out within days--hint, check your state's BON site to "verify" your own license before you pay the testing agency $15 or whatever it is to get an early answer. I paid the $$ then found out immediately that I was already listed as being an RN.

Good luck!~

Just because your friend doesn't know anyone who got 85 and didn't pass doesn't mean people don't fail with 85. 85 is the minimum number of questions. The number of questions is the number of questions. You just have to wait. Maddening isn't it?

Go to your board of nursing web site and type your name in of verification tab ,your name will come up, open on your name if you have been issued your number comes up!

Sorry, but that does not work for all states. And especially not true for CA. The poster does not list which state that they took the exam for.

mine cut off at 75--maybe this is the lvn/lpn nclex? that one is a minimum of 85, i believe.

i agree with everything else, so here's a big ditto :lol2:

(hi ya, tweets!)

Thanks guys. Yeah, it was the PN exam, and I am from MI, I am heading over to the state website now.......I know you can still fail at 85, or pass, either way.....you know how the wait is though. Sucky. And I am not sure how I feel about it actually.....kind of like...eh. Don't feel terrible, but don't feel on top of the world you know? I should find out tomorrow hopefully...so I will post results then.....
