So I have officially been a working LPN for the past week. I love my job. I love the people I work with. I love the residents! I love working in geriatrics. So far, so good! Alot of things I've done this week I didn't have the opporitunity to do in school, like putting in my first foley, giving my first TB test, and... my favorite... giving my first suppository!!!! How exciting, huh? lol
I managed to do the med pass pretty much on my own tonight. Which I think is good, it's my 4th day on the job. I had to ask the other nurses a few questions here and there but I was pretty much autonomous. Tomorrow is friday... thank goodness! I made it through my first week!
I love love love my new career!!!!!! =)

That's great to hear! I found it helpful when I started in LTC to have mentors; my supervisor, co-workers, managers. They all took an interest in me being sucessful. Don't be afraid to ask if you can observe unfamiliar procedures or help troubleshoot problems with other residents. Some of the best stuff I learned was on patients who weren't mine. Keep up the good work!
