My boss just stunned me

Published

There's a stomach bug going around the office. People have been out with it. I went in with it. I was told to go home, we don't want it and we don't want our patients to get it.

I have been told to wear a mask, to wash my hands, but NEVER has a boss in nursing been human enough to send me home!

I love my job.

Wow!! I've heard of such things but never witnessed it in real life. NM caring enough to send you home. Wow..just ...wow.

They may send us home, but we still get the sick points. This GI bug is bad that is going around..it wiped out almost half of our evening shifters!

kudos to your nursing manager, i strongly agree with her decision. i feel why should, you be kept working while you're feeling badly, not to mention spreading whatever you have to other staff & patients. i rather have one less nurse, than have several nurses out for the same reason. unquestionably, one has to consider the needs of the department first, however, my staff always comes first. wishing you a prompt recovery and if i were you i would send your boss a thank you note for being so considerate. hugs from across the miles...ciao~

That's precisely what I felt. And I expressed it.

at least you have a nursing job . . .

are you serious? :uhoh3:

anyway.... it bugs me that we get penalized for calling off sick or going home early at times like this. yes, we have some people on family medical leave who call off every time they break a nail, but when a puking bonanza is sweeping through the place, you know it's real.

it would also be nice if, when residents start puking and the cnas ask the supervisor to close units and close the dining room, if the supervisor would listen instead of assuming that we're just being lazy. how is that lazy? i don't even know!

hope you're feeling much better by now. in texas, you aren't getting all the snow we're getting right now. take good care of you!

I'm fine today. A night of shivering and, well, you know, worked.
