My big day - Words of encouragement? Xanax? Something?!!

Hi all.

I posted here because of the attention this forum gets and because I've learned much from all of you. I take my NCLEX tomorrow (6/14) and am just looking for words of encouragement.

Not studying today (going to try to peel all the books off my desk and vacuum my floor.... oh wait, a rake would do better) and am feeling pretty good. Just a bunch of tangled nerves.....I'm so wired, I got a call from a friend (who happens to be a computer geek) who said they were trying to deal with a virus - I thought he was sick, until he started with technical computer jargon. I sat there for five minutes trying to figure out what a trojan opportunistic infection was... sheesh.

So guys, anything to offer?

Thanks for your time!!

Hi RedWingGirlie! From one Wings fan to another (did you see Shannie, Nick and Stevie on the news this morning? They got awards for outstanding performance at the NHL 2003 Awards Ceremony last night!) you'll do great! Just take it one question at a time, and it'll be over with before you know it! I took the NCLEX here in MI, and it was over with in about 30 minutes. The hard part is the waiting for your name to show up on the phone bank! (Hopefully they do that in AZ and you won't have to wait for it to come in the mail!) Let us know when you find out!

Andrea

Didn't see our guys on the TV, (AZ doesn't appear to know much about hockey) but Shanny was watching over me while I studied. My room is a Red Wing shrine. Glad Nicky got the Norris again.

Thanks for the encouragement! And yes, we can access results by phone. Going to Kauai right after the exam, so I might just wait until I return! I'm going bananas today.... perhaps a huge slice of carrot cake (or the whole thing) will do the trick....

Let me just say that I'm really proud to (almost) be a part of the nursing family. It's a wonderful feeling

Just relax today. Take a walk, any type of exercise, eat a nice dinner, maybe rent a good movie you have always wanted to see. Do you garden...that is always relaxing too. Get a good night sleep tonight & don't worry. There is no sense trying to cram tons of info the night before you take your boards.

Best of luck to you!!

:roll

As someone who lives with a computer geek, I can really relate to that!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great!

Take the day off and RELAX. If you don't know it by now, cramming won't help. (I'm POSITIVE that you DO, know it)

Good luck!!

Ditto what Shamrock said.

Do not open a book today...

Plan what you are going to do TOMORROW NIGHT !

Don't talk to old classmates.........

they all want to verbalize their anxieties and it does rub off !

Buy some donuts for breakast in the morning :)

It is best to have something sweet to get that glucose to the brain....early ! Don't go on an empty stomach.......

No meds, no xanex, benadryl, etc...

Good luck,

You'll do fine....

Ok red, here is a lucky charm for tomorrow.

(Not so lucky for the rabbit)

Well, it was a picture of a rabbit's foot!!, can't get it to post.

eat a good meal tonight and in the a.m. ...no studying now. rest, be well-hydrated. You will do fine. Statistics are your side, remember.

Best wishes. Luck has nothing to do with it. I will soon see you here with RN behind your name!

Best of wishes to you (it ain't about luck, so I won't send you that! ;)) Be prepared with a friend to listen to you vent afterward - the test goes fast but it takes a little while to wind down afterward. You'll do great!

I understand how you feel, as I took my NCLEX about two weeks ago. The night before taking the exam, I tried to relax by going out to eat, going swimming, and relaxing in the hot tub. I was tired by the end of the day, and got a good night's sleep. The next morning, I exercised for about 25 minutes and then ate a healthy breakfast. I said a prayer before taking my exam. Try to relax (I know it's hard). Go in to take the exam with a positive outlook. I passed, and the odds are that you will too. Statistics are on your side.
