My Academic credentials are...interesting...

Hi everyone, I plan on applying for accelerated BSN programs starting on Fall 2014. I am just wondering what your opinions are on my academic credentials, which do worry me some.

I have a degree in biology in 2011, my GPA was a 3.4 overall. I then went to graduate school for a masters degree, but I was going through sort of a quarter-life crisis and was not in a good mindset, and so I ended up failing everything. I was taking three classes, and literally received an F on everything and was kicked out. That was Fall of 2011. I then worked in real estate for two years and when I finally found nursing was where I wanted to go, I took prerequisites this past fall semester at a community college and received A's on everything (which I am very happy about).

I was taking:

Bio-medical ethics

Anatomy+physiology

nutrition

microbiology

developmental psychology

There are still one or two classes I need to take next spring, though I am able to apply as long as I finish them before the program starts. Do you guys think my failed graduate career two years ago will keep me from getting me into nursing school? Or has my recent performance made up for that?

Thanks in advance.

Only your program admissions folks will be able to answer this. There are so many variations in how each school handles GPA. But be ready with a 'plan B' because most accelerated programs use cumulative GPA for admission decisions.

Are you sure you're not my twin? This is the exact situation that happened to me Fall 2011. The only difference was that I failed one class and was kicked out.

As for if the admissions people will let you in, the only thing you can do it try. If they ask, be sure to explain the situation to them honestly. I ended up applying for an ADN program instead of an accelerated BSN but good luck to you.

Be sure to keep me posted.
