Muscle lab practical

Published

I have a muscle lab practical coming up and I need to know the origin and insertion and action. Does anyone have suggestions on how you can learn these? We have a list of 83 muscles. You guys have been so supportive and a big help with previous exams, I thought I might asks for your ideas. Thank you.

Which class is this for? I only had to know certain muscles but not 83, then again it was lumped in with bones for the practical

This is for anatomy and physiology I. I was trying to find unlabeled muscle worksheets. Just to learn where muscles are located and how to spell them. But the origin and insertion are a whole different story. We also have to know prime movers, synergist and antagonist. omg:banghead:

Copy the diagrams from your text book. Cover the names with post its. Slide into a sheet protector and fill in the blanks.

I used both of these in terms of labeling for muscles.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will do this.

Thank you Shawn91111 for websites. These will come in handy!

When I learned muscles, I used flash cards. I took pics in lab of the dissected cat muscles that we'd be tested on. I turned the pics into flash cards with each muscle.

I also recall memorizing the muscles of people I knew. I'd touch the muscle and name it.

If you know which 83 muscles you'll be tested on, make flash cards explaining the muscles function and also another flash card with the picture.

I did make some flashcards but not with pictures. I should do this as well. Thank you.

This is a quality youtube videoof the cat muscle anatamy my professor sent around to his students. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYnqeQprzTgIt really was helpful

I found some information on learning origin and insertions for muscles. May be of some assistance to others. I am still trying to work this out.https://apotential.wordpress.com/2010/12/05/how-to-memorize-origins-and-insertions/ It is somewhat overwhelming to try and remember all of this information.

I found out from my Professor that we need to know the insertion and origin mainly to understand the action. So the actual knowledge of insertion and origin is minor so that helps me some because I will not have to memorize the insertion and origin per se.

What I am finding to be real helpful is using my muscular husband as a specimen. I can see his muscles real good. But he is not fully cooperating yet. I would like for him to do different movements so I can see the muscle in action. lol:cat: My practical is Monday so I have until this weekend.

I think I am slowly losing my mind in anatomy and physiology it is so intense.
