Hello! :)
I am in the process of applying for MUSC's DNP program (FNP track) which will start August 2016. Is there anyone else that's applying this year? What track are you going for?
Hello! I am graduating next week from my Accelerated BSN program with a 3.7 nursing cGPA. This will be my second degree as well. First degree was in biology from Winthrop University.
I've been extremely active in extra cirricular activities during my time in nursing school. I was involved in 2 student nursing associations on campus. I went on a global health trip to India, which will result in 2 publications, one of which I am a coauthor. Participated in interprofessional activities and an interprofessional fellowship. Attended 2 professional conferences. Held a job as a nurse tech at the VA along with other miscellaneous stuff throughout the year.
Hello, I just completed my BSN degree and I am looking into BSN-DNP programs. I would love to go to MUSC, however I don't think my gpa is high enough. GPA is 3.24, I started a chapter of SNA at my school and my last semester I was the chairperson of the mentorship program that I began as well. Nursing is my 2nd degree and I will begin working as an ER nurse this summer. Anybody willing to share their stats as far as gpa and experience for getting into BSN-DNP school?? Pleasseee! Also, if you have any tips to help me be a better candidate it would be greatly appreciated. I also believe most programs require a graduate or undergraduate statistics course, I am planning to take a graduate statistics course in the fall. Thanks so much!!
Hi there! I graduated from MUSC's BSN program with a 4.0. I was a patient care technician for about 3 years full time before school, and worked part time throughout school. I graduated with a BS in Biology previously. I was worried about the leadership aspect of my resume, but I still got in! Good luck to you!
Also, I had only been a nurse for 6 months since graduating in December. My friend sent me the breakdown for acceptance into the program before I applied. It's mostly BSN GPA, then some cumulative GPA, your essay (so make it a great one!), leadership, past relatable experience, and the quality of your references. Hope this helps!
Hey! I just got in the BSN-DNP AGNP track. I got into George Washington as well, but this was my first choice. As far as my experience level goes, I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with my BSN with a 3.7 GPA, and have been a nurse for a little less than 3 years. My most recent experience has been in oncology, which is what I hope to specialize in as an NP, but I had some experience in med-surg and LTC prior to that. As far as tips go, I think you'll get great experience in the ER, and it seems like you have great leadership experience, so just keep that up! When it comes time to apply, just try and focus on writing a well-thought out essay, because the programs I applied to tend to put a lot of weight on that. So if your GPA isn't necessarily what they want, a good essay and good leadership experience will help. Also, I would highly suggest becoming a member of your professional nursing organization in your state or through ANA, because they like that as well. On your floor try to become involved with shared governance councils if thats applicable to your facility. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any questions!
I just found this page. I found out on Thursday that I have been accepted into the DNP program as well. I am both excited and a little terrified!
Have booked all the travel arrangements for July. And I was gathering information about the orientation and what the next step would be when I found this page. You guys have made me excited now! Looking forward to meeting everyone in July.
