Nursing Students NP Students

Hello! :)

I am in the process of applying for MUSC's DNP program (FNP track) which will start August 2016. Is there anyone else that's applying this year? What track are you going for?

Current application status update

So, on that chart, does it mean that they are rejecting 49 of 61 applicants to the fnp tract???

Yes that appears to be correct. But that is for the masters degree, post bac fnp program just for clarification. They are phasing out the masters program to keep in line with the goals of healthy people 2020 to have more doctoral-level prepared fnps. So eventually the masters degree program will eventually go away.

That seems like a high rejection rate! I was thinking of applying there because I got my BSN from there, with a 3.99 GPA for nursing courses but my first 2 years GPA brings my cumulative down to a 3.2. So does that mean they are accepting more students to the DNP FNP?

Yes they are pushing the DNP programs wayyyy more than the MSN. I don't know how many slots they have available for each DNP specialty but yes they are wccepting more DNP students than MSN. I will add though that if you do the DNP you will also be awarded your masters as well.

I see you sent me a message, but I don't have access to private messaging yet. I chose to go with the other school I was accepted into. I live in St. Louis and its physical campus is actually in St. Louis. Its probably a better choice for me because it'll be easier to find clinical preceptors.

hello! I am applying for the DNP for 2017. Any suggestions on writing the essay? I heard they weigh the essay pretty heavily and its making me very nervous.

You guys sound Really impressive! I pray I can get in, I just finished my statistics course and I'm learning so much working in the ER. Thanks for the insight and tips!

Hi all, I am currently interested in applying to MUSC's FNP (BSN to DNP) program. I was wondering anyone would be willing to share with me their thoughts of the program thus far, their personal stats (i.e. GPA, years, experience) or any tips for applying (especially with the personal essay). Any help is greatly appreciated!
