MUSC ABSN Spring 2015

Published

Hi everyone!!!

I wanted to go ahead and make a thread for MUSC's Spring 2015 hopefuls. I know it is a little bit early to start this thread, but I am just so excited. I am looking forward to everyone stats and encouragement for each other. Looking forward to the results!!!

Do you get signed up for those automatically? Where I go to school now, all you have to do is complete the FAFSA.

Which scholarships are you talking about? The Life Scholarship? As I remember correctly (and forgive me if I misspeak, I was 17 when I received the Life Scholarship), but I think all you do is fill out your FAFSA and at the end they will send you a list of things you are elligible for.

As far as the MUSC scholarships, you have to pay your matriculation fee in order to be eligible for their scholarships. And you also have to apply for the ones you want. It is just an online application form, nothing scary. Just put your name and contact info and check off the scholarships you wish to apply for.

Hope that helps!

Do you know how many of the NCIN scholarships are given out per year ?

I am definitely worried about the cost too. I have a great job in research now but it isn't where I want to be. It is definitely scary giving up a great job in hopes to have a better one :/ I will be working part-time hopefully with MUSC as a patient care tech. I already have an interview tomorrow. Fingers crossed I get it!! I really don't want to not work!!

Oh ok. No not the life. I didn't go to high school in SC. Every semester or so they would give me some random scholarship. I think I did have to fill out an extra form now that you mention it. I went to that site that you posted on Facebook (fastweb?) and it looked really overwhelming and time consuming. I am still working full time and going to school full time to finish up my Associates degree, but yeah that does help

I wonder if you have student loans from your first bachelors degree if you can get loans for a second bachelors?

I'm not quite sure...Probably only a handful though since they are paying out $10,000 per scholarship!

Yeah, I was debating on whether or not to work part-time...At first I was going to do it but now I'm not so sure...I was taking org chem and statistics this spring while working and it nearly made me go crazy!!! And that was only with 2 classes and working (although I work full time). But everyone is different. You just have to know your limits. I will continue to scope out MUSC jobs that are not time consuming...MUSC is always posting jobs! Good luck with your interview tomorrow!!

Yeah sometimes fastweb can be a drag, but once you get done answering their questions, then you can pick and choose the scholarships you want to apply for. I've applied for a few so far. You REALLY need like a day or two to go through them. Applying for scholarships is like a full time job! (:

I am having to get a private loan.

Don't quote me, but that could hinder you from receiving a loan, if you still have one out there that you are paying back. I hope someone who's more experienced with that can chime in! But maybe you should speak with the financial aid counselor for a more accurate answer. I need to make contact with them as well about the direct stafford loan...I got an email saying I needed to fill out the form, but I want to know if it's subsidized or not...
