MUSC ABSN Spring 2015

Hi everyone!!!

I wanted to go ahead and make a thread for MUSC's Spring 2015 hopefuls. I know it is a little bit early to start this thread, but I am just so excited. I am looking forward to everyone stats and encouragement for each other. Looking forward to the results!!!

Hey all,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I went ahead and created a Facebook group for our class, to hopefully help everyone share information about classes, assignments, resources and to network. It is a closed group, so no one except members of the group can see or read posts, etc. I wanted to keep membership limited to people that have been accepted to our class (so no one else can see what we are up to lol). I did add Joseph, who is in his first semester, to the group, as he is willing to help, and I think he will be a great resource to let us know what to expect in the next step. I know there have only been a handful of acceptances so far, and most have some weeks to wait to find out, but please send a request to join as acceptances are made! Good morning guys! I will be keeping an eye out on this thread today. Congratulations in advance to those who make it in. I can't wait to meet you! To those who do / did not make it, please keep us posted anyway. A part of why many people are successful is because people who didn't make it the first go round come back and share their experiences with others. You may not see it, but you are definitely 'paying it forward' to future applicants and believe it or not, yourselves. Imagine going back to these threads after a semester has passed and you apply again and you make it the next application cycle? Keep the hope alive!

Congratulations to those who got accepted! If you didn't make it, please don't get discouraged; MUSC's a VERY difficult school to get in to. You need to call an admissions counselor and have them go through your application. The school can tell you EXACTLY where you came up short and what you need to polish? "MUSCKIM" is a prime example of persistence and how a positive attitude pays off. I'd ask her for specific tips on how she improved her application, she can tell you better than I can. Keep in mind too, MUSC is not the only nursing school. If your ultimate goal is to be a nurse then do it, it doesn't matter where you graduate from; an RN is an RN.

Thanks Joseph! Trust me I know all about that feeling of being discouraged!! But it definitely feels amazing when you keep trying and finally get what you want :) I'm more than happy to help anyone who has questions. The applications open back up in July and now is the time to start building your resume!!

I called and found out that I was selected as an alternate. To say the least I'm devastated. I'm about to take a road trip and can't even drive because of the tears. I know there's still a chance for me but the waiting is torture. To all that didn't get in please don't stop exploring other options. I know its easier said then done but don't give up. Again, Congrats to those accepted!

Did you call the same number that was posted last night?

I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope you can at least enjoy your trip. What will happen will and there's always something good waiting to be found in even situations that seem the darkest. Is there someone else going with you that can drive for a while?

Girl keep your head up. You didn't get a flat out NO so there is still some hope. Did you find out where you were on the alternate list?

No I didn't, couldn't say much after she said alternate. I will call a little later and check to see where I am on the list
