MTSU Spring 2014/Fall 2014/Spring 2015

Did anyone on here get into MTSU for Spring 2014 or plan on applying for subsequent semesters? If you got in for Spring 2014, what did your GPA, HESI, and interview score look like? I'm planning on applying for Spring 2015. Any other hopefuls for Fall 2014 or Spring 2015? What do your GPAs look like, and have you taken the HESI yet?

I'm sure MTSU grads get hired as much as anyone else. And I've heard of people having to go to Gallatin and Hendersonville for Clinicals. I'm sure we do some at the Tri-Star hospitals.

mtsu nclex results were lower than usual. anyone know why? usually its in the 90s but it was an 86% i think this time for 2013 year

The reason the NCLEX pass rate is lower this past couple of times is because the passing standard has been increased by the NCLEX people. So basically those who took the NCLEX in the past and passed may not have passed this past year with their exact same score. This has been a national issue since the NCLEX is a national test.

Does any of the area hospitals hire MTSU BSN grads or hold clinical sites for the students?

I went to MTSU. They do clinicals at ST. Thomas Rutherford, Harton, Southern Hills Medical Center, Vanderbilt Childrens, Stonecrest Medical Center, and a few others I can't think of at the moment.

There are a few hospitals that every student in the program will do clinicals at and then in the upper semesters the students are spread out more and not everyone is at the same hospitals. For example, I never had a clinical at Harton, but several other students in my class did have clinicals there.

And yes MTSU grads get hired just as much as the other area grads do. To the hospitals a new grad is a new grad.

I just submitted my application for Spring 2015 (barely made the deadline!) Crossing my fingers! Does anyone know how soon after the deadline they start scheduling interviews? I'm so nervous. I just turned 30. This is my second attempt at school, and I basically had to start completely over. I ruined my GPA when I was fresh out of high school. Anyway, I now have a 3.645 GPA and I scored a 94% on the HESI exam. I'm so anxious about hearing back from the admissions committee about an interview. I think it would help if I had an idea about when, approximately, I can expect to hear from them. I would also appreciate anyone who can tell me how long it took from interview to acceptance notification, as well as any insight into the interview itself. I tend to get flustered in interviews or any kind of "audition" situation, so I would like to be as prepared as possible. Thanks so much for any advice you can give!

I applied for the Fall of 2014 and sadly did not get in. I just reapplied for the Spring 2015 and I am so nervous! I did improve my GPA and HESI score though so I am feeling optimistic. I applied this time with a 3.5 GPA, 91 HESI, and last time a got a 3.5 on my interview so hopefully I can improve on that as well. If anyone else applied for the Spring 2015 I'd love to hear when you get an interview! Good luck!

Also, if anyone knows what order they call people in for interviews I'd love to know! I wasn't sure if it was alphabetically or by scores.

I applied for the Fall of 2014 and didn't get in but I too just applied for the Spring 2015! They will start calling people in for interviews in about a week. They usually start interviews the 7th and then the last are around the 26th. I'm not sure what order they call people in. You will know about your acceptance as early as the first week of November and at the latest a little before Thanksgiving. The interview is in room with two people (mine were two women) they are pretty relaxed and very nice. I made a 3.5 on my interview last time and I was so nervous I thought I did terrible! I don't remember everything they asked but they did ask me what my strengths and weaknesses were and what I thought was the role of the nurse in society. Your GPA and HESI scores are great! As long as you do decently on your interview, you will be golden! The first time I applied I applied with a 3.3 GPA and an 83 or 84 on the HESI. I am applying this time with a 3.5 and a 91 on the HESI so I am feeling a little better! I'd love to know when you get called in for your interview! Hopefully we will both get in and we can conquer nursing school together!

Good luck! Thanks for all the info! I hope we'll soon be classmates. Keep me updated on your interview. I'm rooting for you!

I applied for Spring 2015 as well. I have official transcripts from two different universities though where at one I have a 3.6 GPA and the other I have a 3.45 so I dont know if they will average those together or what. I made a 91 on the HESI. I turned in my application in early September and I know noone hears anything until after the deadline but I already feel like I've waited an eternity! So anxious about getting a call! Hope to hear from them this week or next.

Hi cefhcl,

I was wondering since you were an out of state student applying to MTSU, what made you chose that school? and did they ask you why you were interested in MTSU during your interview? what did you say?I also live out of state and have applied so I would really like to know your thoughts on this.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I had a question for a friend. Has anyone ever been accepted if they had a 3.1 gpa and high hesi exam score?

Does anyone know if people who have to retake a class are ever admitted ?
