  1. You might want to post this in the Tennessee forum to get more answers. Quite a few people over there have talked about applying to/getting accepted to Motlow!
  2. Hey guys! Congrats to all of you who were accepted. I apply for Spring 2015, and I was wondering about the titers. I was told about them LAST WEEK, and I wont be able to get them done in time for application by October 1st. The nurse said its 3 shots and the last one is 6 months after the first. Did titers have to be complete before you apply? Or just before you started classes/clinicals?
  3. For brushing up on A&P, I got the Cliff Notes Anatomy and Physiology for Dummies book off Amazon. It was only about $10.
  4. I've always said if I didn't get into my nursing program, I would lean more towards a degree in Nutrition or Radiation Therapy Technology. At my school, nursing and radiation therapy use basically the same pre-reqs with the addition of physics and pre-calculus. They make pretty good money, too!
  5. Uhm, do you mean arithmetic?
  6. Oh. Well you didn't mention that, or I would have left the financial aid part out about it. I was just trying to give advice based on the info you gave. You also used the term "multiple", so I figured you were trying to do something crazy. Two community colleges are understandable for one semester. I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, I just wasn't aware of all of the unknown factors you didn't mention previously. So I just went off of the info you gave.
  7. I've never done it, but you have to make sure everywhere gets transcripts like the PP said. Also, you can only receive aid(federal aid, loans, grants, ect.) at one school at a time unless you take out private loans. However, if you do receive a significant amount of grants/scholarships, you can use that money to pay for both schools. I say both, because I wouldn't recommend someone trying to attend 3 or 4 colleges/universities. It's unnecessary. I would understand if a certain pre-req is only available in the fall at School A and school B offers it year-round, but you attend school A and it's spring. It's also understandable to take pre-reqs at community colleges and then transfer to a 4-year university for an actual program or take or re-take classes at a community college in the summer if you normally attend a 4-year university. I just wouldn't think it would be a good idea to simultaneously attend "multiple" universities at once unless it's necessary.
  8. phoenoryker- I'm not afraid to invest time into something. I'm just confused about what to invest it into. I don't want to invest it into the wrong thing and waste time. I will consider seeing a mental health professional! Thank you for your advice! zzbxdo- I'm not under my parents "wing". I work/support myself/ put myself through school. I started college at 17 and paid for it with scholarships, grants, and money I had saved up and fed myself and paid for what I needed by working on days I didn't have class and on the weekends. I DO realize that I need a career, but I don't know WHAT I want to do. Nothing is appealing to me.
  9. Hey everyone! I just need to vent/get some advice. I'm currently a freshman and I apply for entrance to the nursing program at my school this fall(for spring admission). Our program is 2.5 years(5 semesters). I'm supposed to take the HESI this summer and take a 2 classes this summer. Truth is, I don't think I want to be a nurse anymore. I really don't want to do anything. There's nothing I can wake up and see myself doing every day. I've been through my school's major catalog multiple times and talked to other advisers, and nothing interests me. I don't see anything that I can wake up everyday and love doing. I've been told multiple times that nursing is something that you have to love and want to do, or you'll be miserable. I don't want to be miserable. I don't want to get into the program, start, and not complete it. I don't want to selfishly take a spot away from someone who really want/deserves it. Realistically, how many people actually knew what they wanted to do fresh out of high school and right into college? Everyone keeps telling me I'm too smart to drop out of college, but it isn't about that. If I have the knowledge, but nowhere to devote it to, what's the point of having it? I just need some advice on what I should do? I'm really lost and confused right now.
  10. Well, if you really want to be a nurse like you say you do, why would you try to be a paramedic instead of just going the LPN route? If you go the LPN route, then find an LPN to RN bridge program, that would make more sense than trying to be a paramedic and wasting 10k if you actually want to be a nurse.
  11. I'm sure MTSU grads get hired as much as anyone else. And I've heard of people having to go to Gallatin and Hendersonville for Clinicals. I'm sure we do some at the Tri-Star hospitals.
  12. according to the BON, it was 81%. 129 sat the exam, 105 passed it. In previous years, around 91-105 people sat to take it. They had a higher number of people sat to take it this year.
  13. I have to take the HESI, not the TEAS. However, the advice I would give you is, wait until you're done with A&P II. That's what I've been told. Are you applying for Spring 2015? That's what I'm doing and my school requires that I wait 30 days between taking the HESI, if I choose to retake it. I'm taking A&P II in a 6 week summer semester, so I'll be taking the HESI once in late July/Early August, and depending on what I get on it, I'll probably retake it in early/ mid September since my application for Spring 2015 is October 1st. I also have 2 more pre-reqs, which I'll finish in summer and fall. I would advise you to start studying as early as possible. Study online using the free resources and possibly invest in a study book.
  14. We're SUPPOSED to take micro after a&P I and A&P II, but we can take it with A&P II at my school with special permission. A&P I and A&P II are pre-reqs to micro. Since they let you take them in any order you want, ask your advisor what would be best for you and what would help you learn the other better or have a leg up when you do take the other. I've heard taking micro with a&P II is tough though, as with taking any 2 science courses together.
  15. Call your school and tell them of the problem. See if someone there can help you. If all else fails, contact ATI and see what they say about it.
