MTSU Spring 2014/Fall 2014/Spring 2015

Did anyone on here get into MTSU for Spring 2014 or plan on applying for subsequent semesters? If you got in for Spring 2014, what did your GPA, HESI, and interview score look like? I'm planning on applying for Spring 2015. Any other hopefuls for Fall 2014 or Spring 2015? What do your GPAs look like, and have you taken the HESI yet?

I applied for the fall semester, just waiting to get an interview scheduled! I have a 3.9 GPA and made an 84 on the HESI.. Not exactly the score I was looking for but I kinda found out last minute from my advisor I qualify to apply for the fall semester. and I hadn't taken A&P2 yet so I taught myself most of the material from A&P 2. If I get accepted I have to take Microbiology in the fall (I'm in A&P2 now) Good luck to you!

Ahh! Scary! I'm taking A&P I now, and I take A&P II this summer. Then Micro in the fall. I apply for Spring 2015(which means I apply during Fall 2014 I guess). Your GPA is really high. I plan on taking the HESI this summer after I take A&P II, then I take Micro in the fall. I'm also taking a class or 2 this summer to help my GPA out a bit. Please let me know how the interview goes and if you get in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! They always stress how competitive the program is, and it scares me.

I am applying for Fall 2014, too. All of my classes are completed, except for Physiology (my school splits Anatomy and Physio. up into separate courses), which I am currently in progress of finishing this semester. I have a 3.6 GPA overall, higher in all the nursing pre-reqs and gen. ed, but MTSU only looks at overall. An Astronomy class that I never even needed for anything is dragging my GPA down! I earned a 93.43% on the HESI. I would say just stay on top of things, meet with a pre-nursing advisor and the process of applying was fairly easy. I just wish there were more updates for people on when interviews would be since I have to fly in from another state for mine, but I guess the idea of booking a flight and taking off within a day has some romance to it.

Does MTSU care in what order pre-reqs you take or how long it takes to complete?

I'm not sure if they require you to take pre-reqs in a certain order. My very first semester I tried to push statistics until the next semester because it had been a few years since I'd been in school but my advisor told me I HAD to take it my first semester. I met another girl that is pre-nursing and she took stats her second semester so idk about that one, I'd call your advisor and ask.

As far as I know they do not care what order, but some of the classes are pre-reqs to other classes if that makes sense, so you might need to take certain ones in order. Their main concern is that ALL the pre-req. classes are finished before you start the nursing program. You can apply before they are done, but they need to be finished before the term you have applied for starts.

cefhcl- OMG. you MURDERED the HESI! How did you get such a good score? What study materials did you use?
mee9mee9- my adviser said no. As long as you don't have to take a "k" course- which is a prescribed class, you should be able to take everything else how you want to. Except A&P I, A&P II, and micro of course. But if you take A&P II and micro in the same semester here, you have to get special permission from the nursing department.

I started studying about a week before the test because with a full-time job in sales and taking classes at night I really did not have more time than that to put into it. I used the study guide from the test prep company. As well as a book of test from McGraw Hill with practice tests in it. I took as many of the practice tests as I could. I was actually testing a lot lower on the practice tests than on the real thing. My current college is known for having a very rigorous pre-nursing and nursing program, though. I think that because I am used to that level of difficulty, the HESI was actually a lot more manageable. My best advice is to pick the stuff you are naturally good at and focus on studying as much as possible to ace those things. I got 100% in a lot of things and 96% in Chem. I have never been as good at Anatomy and I was only a couple months into the class when I took HESI, though and only got an 84% in that category. Scoring so high on the stuff I was good helped boost my overall score enough to make-up for what I was not as good at.

cefhcl- thank you so much! I'll definitely take your advice. I plan on having enough time in between in case I need to take it twice!

Yes, it would have been ideal to be able to take it twice. Since I had to fly out of state to take HESI, I knew I'd probably only have one shot before applications were due. Best of luck to you!!!
